Orioles pecked by Hornets, for Veterans Night victory


It was important for the Cadott football program to recognize the heroes in their midst, with Veterans Night, Aug. 29, as they hosted long-time rivals Stanley-Boyd and they carried that pride into the game.
After a patriotic start, the Orioles rushed out to get on the board first, but Cadott made sure that was all they got.
The Hornets went on to dominate the visitors, taking a 48-6 victory.
Sophomore quarterback Jake Weeks went 6 for 15 in passing, with 59 yards and three touchdown throws to his credit, while senior Aiden Rykal also had 82 yards and a touchdown pass.
On rushing, Rykal ended with 149 yards and 2 touchdowns, while junior Owen Fasbender had 40 yards, sophomore Kellen Blanchette finished with 38, freshman Max Schneider had 30 and junior Riley Winchell came up with 18 yards.
Junior Coy Ramseier ended the night with four receptions, 59 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Schneider had 82 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Fasbender finished with 12 tackles, sophomore Drew Rykal had 8 tackles and a sack, and sophomore Max Davis came up with 8 tackles, a forced fumble and a recovery. A. Rykal had 7 tackles and an interception, while junior Brenton Faber had 3 tackles and an interception, with senior Gavin Roscoe carrying off 2 tackles and an interception.
Junior Aiden Tomkowiak also came up big, with 6 tackles, while Winchell had 2 tackles and an interception, that was returned for a touchdown, with junior Brock Webster ending with 3 tackles, a forced fumble and a sack. Freshman Jacob Phelps also had a tackle and a sack.
