Book club
The Athens Book Club will meet at Athens Branch Library on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. to discuss “Only If You’re Lucky” by Stacy Willingham. When one of the fraternity boys next door is brutally murdered, Margot’s best friend Lucy— the magnetic, addictive, bold person that shy, careful, quiet Margot knew to be dangerous but couldn’t stay away from — suddenly disappears without a trace leaving Margot to pick up the pieces. Toddler Time
Tots ages 2 and under are invited to an interactive, 20-minute story time designed just for them at the Athens Branch Library. The event will begin with a quick introduction, and then library staff will mix together fun stories, songs, rhymes and finger plays. Toddler Time is a great opportunity for parents and children to learn and bond together. Toddler Times are scheduled from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 3 and 17. Preschool Story Time
Bring your little ones, ages 3 to 5, to Preschool Story Time at the Athens Branch Library for funfilled stories and adventures. Library staff will build their imaginations through books, rhymes, music and interactive activities. Preschool Story Times will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 10 and 24. Pasture walk
The Cloverbelt Grazing Community will host a sheep grazing pasture walk on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Half Moon Hill, 132851 CTH A,Athens. Gerrid and Sadie Franke are in their 16th year of grazing sheep. They graze 25 ewes with lambs on 21 acres of pasture. After starting their farm completely from scratch, they have a sheep operation that works for them, although they still get surprises to learn from every year. They graze long, leaving a lot of matter on the field, which has its own challenges. Join the walk to hear about the lessons they’ve learned. Topics will include pasture management, fencing, water systems for sheep, and flock management. This is a free event; all are welcome (kids too). Cookies and refreshments will be provided.
Senior citizen passes
The annual free athletic passes for all citizens 62 years of age or older residing in the Edgar School District are now available for distribution. Passes are available in the high school office or from ticket sellers at events. Passes are not accepted for any WIAA tournament events that Edgar may host.
Book club
The Edgar Book Club will meet at the Edgar Branch Library on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at noon to discuss “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak. At the same time Liesel is learning to read in 1930s Nazi Germany, she is also coming to know the immense value of books, and she begins rescuing these treasures from anywhere she can—even Nazi book-burnings. Games at St. Stephen

Seed mosiacs
Kids are invited to come and create one-of-a-kind mosaics at the Edgar Branch Library on Monday, Sept. 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. This activity will let little creatives combine beans, seeds and air-dry clay to make a decorative mosaic for their family’s home or garden. Family Game Night
All ages are invited to Edgar Branch Library for a Family Game Night on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 3 to 6 p.m. A variety of board games and card games will be available to play, and participants are invited to bring their own. American Legion cookout
The Edgar American Legion will host a Veterans Cookout for all area veterans on Saturday, Sep. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oak Street Park in Edgar. There is no cost for this event, which will feature a guest speaker from Never Forgotten Honor Flight as well as benefit information for various programs available to veterans. Women’s Club
