SHS Class of 1950 Reunites
Stratford High School class of 1950 held their 25th reunion at the Buck-A-Neer supper club in Rozellville. Twenty of the forty-seven classmates attended. Larry Spaeth, class president, was the Master of Ceremonies and Ann Zuelke gave the Invocation.
Town Clerks are Honored
Two area town clerks, who together compiled a history of 79 years of service to their communities, were honored by the members of the Western Towns Assoc. John Raschke, route 3 Stratford served as clerk of the Town of Day for 53 years while Harold Grambow, was honored for 26 years of service as town clerk for the Town of McMillan.
Polster Family Reunion
The Polster family reunion was held at the Peter Polster home on the 4th of July. Mr. Polster’s children, grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren attended. A barbeque dinner was served. STRAFORD JOURNAL

Board approves new hires
Stratford District Administrator Thomas Tuttle presented the board with two recommended applications for the open 4th and 6th grade teaching positions. The board accepted the applications of Ryan Bloom and Matt Fielder on a unanimous vote. Stratford FFA members travel to Madison
The Stratford FFA made a showing at the State FFA convention held in Madison.The highest degree possible at the state convention, the State FFA Degree, was given to Martine Bredl and Lance Syring. The members achieved this degree through their Supervised Agricultural Experience.

New Druggist
Al Lang is the new owner of the Edgar Drug Store. Lang is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Pharmacy. He is a native of the area and his parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lang, Marathon.
Lang is speaker
Terry Lang, Marathon High School Badger Boy Stater for 1975, was the guest speaker at the officer installation meeting of Aloix Dreikosen Post 469, Marathon. Lang summarized his activities at Badger Boys State in Ripon.
Students attend Tri-State Institute
Over 240 young leaders gathered at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville for the annual Tri-State Cooperative Educational Institute to learn more about local cooperatives. Attending from Athens were Sharon Schreiner, Joan Weiler, Cathleen Henrichs, Lee Zarling, Gerald Knorr, and Keenan Frank. All were sponsored by the Athens Coop.

Edgar budget balance improves
Edgar School District is slowly replenishing what was a precariously low fund balance and a proposed 2000-01 budget hopes to raise the district’s cash on hand to $200,000. “We’ve done quite well,” said District administrator Barkley Anderson. “The staff has been prudent with spending their budgets and keeping their heads above water, even as we go through a declining enrollment process.”
Special Olympics
Four Marathon area students participated in the 2000 Special Olympics Summer games held in Stevens Point. Members of the Marathon Special Olympics team were Erik Heil, Jeremy Landwehr, Timothy Martin and Lisa Oehmican.
