Brats & hot dogs
Cub Scout Pack 458 will be hosting a brat and hot dog sale at the Marathon Farmers Market on Thursdays July 10, 17 and 31. The sale runs from 2-6 pm. Proceeds will be used for camps, field trips, and other fees.
Rib Falls HCE
The Rib Falls HCE met June 11 at the home of Gloria Kreager. Refreshments and dessert were served. The Pledge of Allegiance and Creed I were recited.

For Community Service, members are to bring three items that can be used for Bingo prizes to donate to the local nursing home.

The HCE’s next meeting will be Wednesday, July 9, at the home of Arlyn Heise. The meeting was adjourned with Creed II.
The hostess shared some farm and June Dairy Month Facts. Members played Farm Bingo with all receiving prizes, including some promoting June Dairy Month.
Family Story Times
Children ages 6 and under and their parents and caregivers are invited to the Marathon City Branch Library for Family Story Time on Thursdays over the summer. Library staff will read books, sing songs, and more during the 30 to 45 minute program. The regular story time schedule may get interrupted by special events on occasion. The next story time will be July 31, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The theme of the July 17 story time will be based on “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister. Call 715-443-2775 for more information.
Book club
The Marathon City Book Club will meet at the Marathon City Branch Library on Monday, July 14, at 5:45 p.m. to discuss “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig. Nora Seed discovers the chance to change her life – pursuing new careers, undoing breakups, or achieving her dream of becoming a glaciologist. Taylor Pawlowicz, majoring in agricultural education, was named to the 2025 spring semester dean’s list at UW-River Falls. To be named to the list, a full-time undergraduate must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an “A” and “B” average.

Book club
The Stratford Book Club will meet at the Straford Branch Library on Wednesday, July 16, at 1 p.m. to discuss “The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club” by Helen Simonson. In the summer of 1919, Constance meets Poppy, a baronet’s daughter who runs a ladies’motorcycle club; however, as the country prepares to celebrate its hardwon peace, the club realizes the freedoms they gained during the war are being revoked.
