“Love Or Best Offer” prepped for opening night March 8

Opening night for the ShowCase Players next production, the Wisconsin premiere of “Love Or Best Offer,” by Phil Olson is set for this coming Friday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances in the Colby High School Theatre are March 9, 10, 15,16 and 17. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10.00 at the door, with a $1.00 discount if you bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry.

Roxie Wetterau plays Cheryl, a widow with a special needs daughter, and an estranged son. Lori, played by Jeffer Scheuer, is Cheryl’s irreverent best friend. Lori feels Cheryl is lonely and needs to get back out there and find love. Stan, performed by Jordan Aschenbrenner, is a divorced computer programmer who is quite well off. Nathan Bier plays Dave, Stan’s best friend and wing man.

Dave thinks Stan is getting desperate for love, and may end up with another gold digging trophy wife that will take him for whatever is left, that his first exwife didn’t get. Lori pushes Cheryl into online dating at the same time that Dave talks Stan into signing up for dating websites. Cheryl and Stan end up meeting on the dating sight, friends, love or whatever.

From there, they begin a seven month journey getting to know each other. All the while, they are pushed, prodded, and given questionable advice by their hilarious friends, Lori and Dave. Can Stan and Cheryl work past their trust issues and “Lord Of The Rings” fandom, to find love or best offer?
