Last Thursday, April 18, the Neillsville-Granton (NG) Warriors defeated Owen-Withee 18-8, making them 1-1 in conference play.

Keltie Schoen collected three hits in three at bats. Schoen doubled and singled in the first inning of the away game.

NG scored 10 runs in the first inning. Shylah Walk drew a walk, scoring one run; Schoen doubled, scoring two runs; Mercedes Bayles drew a walk, scoring one run; Klarissa Canfield singled, scoring two runs; Emerson Ormond singled, scoring two runs; and Schoen singled, scoring one run.

Canfield hit a triple to drive in a run to keep the lead at 11-0 in the second inning.

Schoen scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to center field.

Canfield started in the circle for NG. She gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two. Walk appeared in relief. Mindy Dix turned one double play.

The Warriors collected 18 hits in the game.

“Canfield and Sydney Subke were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits while hitting back to back,” wrote coach Ashley Vine in a press release.

Canfield led with five runs batted in. They went four-for-four on the day. Schoen, Walk, Ormond and Danielle Bobak each collected multiple hits for the Warriors.

The team planned to travel to Colby/ Abbotsford on Tuesday.

The Warriors also started their game at home against Loyal-Greenwood on April 16. The game was called due to lightning, leaving the score 8-8 in the beginning of the sixth inning. They plan to finish their game this Friday, April 26, in Loyal prior to their already scheduled game at 5 p.m. Game time is to be determined; see the school website for details.
