Athens senior wrestler Brooks Kraus captured the 132-pound championship at the Ladysmith Invitational on Saturday. He now has a 20-5 record in matches this season.

Kraus secured pins against Jackson Ernst of Chequamegon in the quarterfinals match, Briar Naglosky of Shell Lake in the semifinals and Bryer Christel of Reedsville in the 132-pound title.

Reedsville’s team won the Ladysmith Invitational.

Raiders are seventh

Marathon took seventh place out of 19 teams at the Ladysmith Invitational on Saturday.

The following Marathon wrestlers placed at the Ladysmith Invitational: Sophomore Dylan Dodson was second in the 120-pound weight class, junior Mason Putnam sixth at 132, sophomore Derek Vesely third at 138, sophomore Jake Smith sixth at 145, freshman Juan Gomez 14th at 170, junior Hector Pintor second at 170, freshman Ian Hunter seventh at 182 and junior Logan Werner third at 285.

‘Cats in Chippewa

Edgar’s wrestling squad placed ninth among 11 teams in the Chippewa Falls Invitational on Saturday. Tomah won the team championship.

Wildcats freshman Austin Schreiber took fourth place in the 126-pound weight class, senior Jesse Jisko was fifth at 152 pounds, freshman Jase Apfelbeck competed at 160, senior Collin Gajewski was fifth at 170, freshman Corey Koeppl competed at 182, sophomore Harrison Graveen was fourth at 220 and senior Waylon Wirkus was second at 285. Wirkus now has a 17-3 match record this season.

Edgar lost all three of its dual matches on Thursday at the Wittenberg- Birnamwood quad.

The Wildcats fell to the Bonduel Bears, 45-24. Edgar grapplers obtaining wins are Harrison Graveen pinning Vance Paholke at 220 pounds, Waylon Wirkus pinning Kyler Novitski in 25 seconds at 285, Austin Schreiber pinning Cooper Salerno at 126 and Jesse Jisko pinning Evan Wilcox in 34 seconds at 152.

Edgar lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 54-12. Waylon Wirkus pinned Dominic Weso at 285 pounds and Jesse Jisko pinned Owen Schultz in 43 seconds at 152. Edgar suffered a 66-6 setback against Cadott. Waylon Wirkus was the team’s lone winner by pinning Tucker Salzgeber in 43 seconds at 285 pounds.

Tigers compete at home

Stratford’s wrestling squad lost all three of its home quad matches against Fennimore, Holmen and Marshfield on Friday.

The Tigers only came up six points short, 37-42, of beating the Fennimore Golden Eagles. Fennimore was awarded six team points when Stratford forfeited the 120-pound weight class.

Stratford grapplers achieving wins against Fennimore are freshman Trenton Cournoyer pinning Dalton Leffler at 106 pounds, junior Ryan Becker pinning Malin Hahn at 138, senior Gavin Drexler pinning Kaden Hahn at 145, senior Dillon Kirsch winning a 9-0 major decision against Syler Zdanczewicz at 152, senior Gavin Kirsch pinning Wyatt Ahnen at 160, freshman Carter Lueck winning a 6-2 decision against Nathan Blaschke at 170 and junior Jackson Ormond pinning Cameron Wolf at 182.

The Tigers fell to the Holmen Vikings, 15-59. Tigers obtaining wins are Trenton Cournoyer pinning Camden Thiele at 106 pounds, Gavin Drexler pinning Tyler Jahn at 145 and Jackson Ormond winning a 7-1 decision against Elliott Hess at 182.

Stratford lost a battle of the Tigers, 25-48, to Marshfield. Stratford grapplers achieving competitive wins are Trenton Cournoyer pinned Ava Gardner at 106 pounds, Ryan Becker winning by injury default against Hoyt Blaskowski at 138, Gavin Drexler winning a 12-4 major decision against Brett Franklin at 145 and Cole Marten winning a 3-1 decision against Adrian Kruger at 220.
