Athens Area Booster Club awards three scholarships

The Athens Area Booster Club (AABC) is proud to announce the recipients of its first annual scholarship awards.
This year, three outstanding Athens High School graduates have been selected for their exceptional commitment to community service and civic engagement. The Class of 2025 winners are Bailey Hanke, Sarai Aguilar-Hernandez and Malaina Telschow.
The mission of the AABC is to foster a thriving community, and these scholarships aim to recognize and support students who actively contribute to the betterment of the Athens community through volunteer work, leadership in service projects and a dedication to making a positive impact. The AABC scholarship seeks to empower these students to continue their valuable contributions to the community, regardless of their future educational or career paths.
The AABC awards scholarships to Athens High School graduates who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and civic engagement. Applicants should exhibit a history of meaningful involvement in community service activities, showcasing their ability to inspire and mobilize others. The ideal recipients demonstrate not only a passion for helping others but also a commitment to personal growth through service.
This scholarship seeks to empower students to further enhance their ability to promote change in their communities.
The AABC is proud to award scholarships to any Athens High School graduate who has demonstrated significant volunteer and community involvement. This scholarship is not limited to those pursuing post-secondary education; rather, it aims to recognize and reward student leaders for their dedication to community service and civic engagement.
Students eligible for this scholarship must be graduating from Athens High School and maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout their high school career. Active participation in community service and volunteer work within the Athens School District is required, with leadership roles in community organizations strongly desired.
Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in one payment upon graduation. Each scholarship awarded is $500, and the Athens Area Booster Club determines the number of scholarships to award each year.
Applicants must submit an application form, two letters of recommendation and a 500 to 1,000-word essay detailing the impact of community service on their lives, future goals and how the scholarship will help achieve them. The essay should include why they became involved in community service and who inspired them to get involved.
