On Jan. 10, St. Joseph Catholic School, Stratford, hosted the 2024 Northeast Rural Region Academic Quiz Bowl.

Teams came from St. Mary Catholic School, Marathon; St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Edgar; St. Anthony Catholic School, Athens; and, St. Joseph Catholic School, Stratford.

After three rounds of competition, St. Joseph was the champion team in first place with 56 points, St. Anthony came in second place with 40 points, St. Mary earned third place with 35 points, and St. John the Baptist was fourth place with 31 points.

The competition was not for the glory of the competitors but to glorify our Lord’s name as the competition started out with a prayer that contestants value the camaraderie and cooperation that happened that day more than the glory of winning.

The teams that didn’t win learned that they are already winners because of their willingness to share their talents and the winners learned that they succeeded because of our Lord’s blessing and guiding presence. The hope of all involved is that this competition serves as a way to praise Our Lord’s name and spread His news.

All participants and guests shared a meal of fellowship at the end of the competition.
