Loyal American Legion Auxiliary plans for upcoming events

The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 met Sept. 9 at the Legion hall. The meeting was called to order by President Jodi Lindner and opened with prayer by Chaplain Donna Langfeldt. This was followed by a moment of silence for the deceased members, the Pledge of Allegiance, and Preamble.

Roll call was taken, with 19 members present. September birthdays were Shelly Taylor, Christine Geier, and Elena Hurrell.

The secretary’s report was read by Taylor. The treasurer’s report was read by Norma Wentzel. The sunshine report was given by Barb Lucht, with no cards this month.

The group received a thank you card from Pauline (the head of raffle baskets).

New business The Fall District 7 Convention is Sept. 20. Registration will be at 8 a.m. and the meeting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch. Jackie Rowley and Lindner are going in the morning only. Wentzel and Julie Milz will also attend. Tami Cook and Kris Schultz will be bartending.

In the Know is Oct. 4 at the Loyal Legion hall. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m. Sharon Rogers and Langfeldt plan to help. Rowley, Milz, and Rogers will attend the meeting from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Gladys Zuehlke and Diana Hayes will help with lunch at 11:30 a.m.

A comedian was scheduled for Oct. 25, but has been postponed until January or February, possibly Feb. 14 for Valentine’s Day. Lindner will check if he is available. Hurrell motioned to move the date and Rogers seconded. The motion was approved.

Hurrell also motioned to create a committee for the comedian. Lindner seconded. The motion was approved. The committee will be Lindner, Hurrell, Rowley, and Bob Hannum.

The steak feed is Oct. 20. Wentzel and Lindner will work then.

Fish fries are scheduled for October, November, and December. Julie Poehnelt’s granddaughters will be working.

Oct. 21 is the county meeting. The Legion Auxiliary will decorate the fall street corner on Sept 20. Lindner, Taylor, and Shirley Olson volunteered.

The next meeting will be held on Oct. 14. Langfeldt offered a closing prayer for peace. The meeting was adjourned by Lindner.
