Loyal Legion Auxiliary meets

The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 met on July 8.

The meeting was called to order by President Jodi Lindner and opened with prayer, a moment of silence for the deceased members, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Preamble.

Donna Langfeldt had a June birthday. Roll call was taken with 16 members present.

The secretary’s report was read by Shelly Taylor and approved. The treasurer report’s was read by Julie Poehnelt and approved.

In the sunshine report, Barb Lucht reported that she sent a thank you card to Rick Thomas, sympathy card to Phyllis Linster, and “how are you doing“ note to Kathy Pieper.

The Auxiliary received a thank you card from scholarship recipient Seth Duell. Also, everyone was thanked for selling raffle tickets.

The Auxiliary needs to know who is coming to the “In The Know” event on Oct 4. Also, Gladys Zuehlke will bring lap robes for display.

Pictures for new officers and a group picture will be done at September meeting, and members were asked to wear their Auxiliary shirts. They were also asked to let Lindner know if they wanted an Auxiliary hat, as she will be ordering them.

The Legion is looking into getting an AED machine. The Auxillary would pay one third of the cost. Sharon Rogers made a motion to contribute that much to the AED machine. Barb Lucht seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The American Legion Auxiliary website is now open to pay membership dues for 2026. The fee is $36 plus $1 which comes back to the local chapter.

Thorp won the second, third, fourth, and seventh place awards for the Clark County Essay Contest. The Auxiliary will be contacting the Loyal school this fall to get the contest set up and possibly do a local contest.

Corn Fest sign-up sheets are out. Members are asked to sign up to volunteer. Lindner will order patriotic tattoos again for the kids.

The blood drive will be July 29. Volunteers are Kris Schultz, Sharon Rogers, Bob Hannum, and Diana Hayes.

The $10 drawing was won by Christine Geier. The regift patriotic cross was won by Alice Humke.

The next meeting will be Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Langfeldt, the chaplain, offered the closing prayer.

Lindner adjourned the meeting.
