The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary Post 175’s June 19 meeting was called to order by president Jackie Rowley at 7:30 p,m. and opened with a prayer, moment of silence for deceased members, Pledge of Allegiance, and Preamble.

There were no guests present, but member Kristi (Zuelhke) Lenz from Minnesota joined the meeting. June birthdays were Shirley Olson and Julie Poehnelt. Roll call was taken, with 16 members present. The secretary’s report was read by Poehnelt and approved. The treasurer’s report was also read by Poehnelt and approved.

Old business The sunshine report was as follows: Barb Lucht sent a thinking of you card to Hap Weyer, hello card to Alice Kennedy, and care card to Penny Pieper.

Scholarship recipients were Devon Roehl, Seth Duell, and Jordynn Corder.

Rowley read a thank you card from Devin Roehl for the scholarship he received. Rowley shared a brochure about Camp Victory. She thanked all those who attended the Memorial Day service at the cemetery, those who made cake kits for the food pantry, blood drive workers, and those who worked/attended the Celebration of Life for Jean Langfeldt.

New business The summer state convention is July 16-20 in Green Bay. Rowley and Norma Wentzel will attend. Jodi Lindner made a motion to donate a raffle basket, seconded by Lucht, motion carried. On Oct. 4, the Auxiliary will be hosting “In the Know,” an informational day to learn about Americanism, children and youth, national security, veterans affairs and rehabilitation, and Badger Girls State. June 25 is the dairy bake-off at city hall. The theme is Mexican food. Upcoming events as of the meeting were a June 14 wedding and June 28 birthday party.

Lucht, Lindner, Olson, Rowley, and Bob Hannum shared stories of their trip to Camp Tomahawk. They said it was a very nice camp with a healing, calm, and peaceful setting. The camp has 20 cabins, a chapel, community room, boats, pontoons, play ground, fire pits, and a craft area. There is also a full-time doctor and nurse on-site. Veterans and their families can sign up to stay for a week.

New officers were elected: Lindner, president; Elena Hurrell, vice president; Hannum, second vice president; Shelly Taylor, secretary; Wentzel, treasurer; Dawn Jacobson, historian; Olson and Poehnelt, sergeant-at-arms; and Lucht, sunshine chairperson.

The $10 drawing was won by Gladys Zuehlke. Re-gift of a lap quilt was won by Hurrell.

The next meeting will be July 8 at 7:30 p.m.. Chaplain Donna Langfeldt offered a closing prayer, and new president Lindner adjourned the meeting.
