Curtiss Corners Quilt Club meets
The Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met June 16 at 6:45 p.m. in Curtiss Community Center with 14 members attending.
Community Service Project: Stop by the Owen Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.–noon and check out the pet bandanas ($3 each) and toys ($3 each) which are for sale, with 100% of proceeds donated to Clark County Humane Society (CCHS). There is also a donation jar for cash that will be donated to CCHS along with sales proceeds.
Quilt Show 2025: Mark your calendar for the 2025 Curtiss Corners Quilt Show which will be Aug. 2 at the Curtiss Community Center. There will be quilts, displays, demonstrations, prize baskets, a craft sale, and lunch.
Group Quilt Project: The City of Owen Centennial Quilt is nearly complete. Members created quilt blocks reflecting Owen’s logging history, railroads, and Yellowstone Trail. The finished quilt will be on display at the Aug. 2 quilt show and then given to the Owen-Withee Area Historical Society.
Consider joining a quilt club. Be inspired from new ideas; view finished quilts from members; engage in shop talk about tools, fabric, and patterns; and learn new techniques from demonstrations. The next meeting is July 21 at 6:45 p.m. in Curtiss.
Monthly Tip: If feeling knee strain, try reversing the sewing machine pedal and use your heel to start the machine. Having the front of your foot on floor while lifting and lowering the heel is a more natural movement that creates less knee strain.
The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m. Curtiss Corners Quilt Club is on Facebook. Check out their page for club news and mark your calendar for the 2025 quilt show on Aug. 2 in Curtiss.
