The year for the Cadott Lions Club started a little on the slower side, as the members held their regular meeting, looking at activities and projects for the coming months. Christmas is over, so it was time to start dismantling the display in the park.

Some school students help the club with taking down lights, which members are thankful for.

The club also had their Christmas party at the Goetz Town Hall, with a white elephant exchange.

“You never know what crazy thing you are going to end up with and what you can make something from it,” said Lion Carolyn Wanish. “There was a lot of visiting and great laughter throughout the evening.”

Planning for the up coming ice fishing contest had the best news – that there was plenty of ice this year. It was true, February brought a lot of ice and very cold temperature for the ice fishing contest.

“As usual, those diehard ice fishermen, women and children come for the challenge of who will catch the biggest fish in each category…” said Wanish.

Monthly BINGO at the Goetz Town Hall saw a great group of seniors, who come to see who had the lucky card that time. Mid-way through BINGO, there was a break, where coffee and a snack were served.

Following that, March started with a regular meeting, as well as a regional meeting, held by the Jim Falls Lions Club.

“There was a great speaker and demonstration about healthy foods, very tasteful,” said Wanish. “We also have an exchange of what other Lions clubs in the area are doing, you never know what new ideas could come up. The highlight, is the fish fry that they serve, something that is enjoyed by all.”

Many Lions members attended the district convention, held at Pines 29.

“There were some great speakers and informational workshops, now it is time to get ready for the busy spring and summer activities,” said Wanish.

Starting with May, activities include the brat stand in the east park, then our the fifth annual golf tournament at Whispering Pines Golf Course.

“Hope you will be able to join us for our many activities coming up,” said Wanish.
