Daniel “Danny” Ray Christie

Daniel “Danny” Ray Christie passed away, Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, after a short fight with cancer.

Danny was born in Edgar, Ill., May 31, 1962, to David and Elaine (Currie) Christie.

After his parents relocated back to the Cornell area, he spent much of his childhood helping on the family farm, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his siblings, cousins and friends.

After his graduation from Cornell High School, he entered the U.S. Army and proudly served his country on active duty, for three years, and as a Reserve, for another three years.

After his active duty, Danny settled back in the Cornell area, got married and had two children. He later divorced and moved to Florida, for a time, but returned to the Cornell/ Eau Claire area, where he spent the rest of his adulthood.

Danny was a hard worker and was employed as foreman, for A. Vernon Construction, for 11 years. He was a highly skilled carpenter and could build an entire house from the ground up.

He was later a self-employed carpenter and handyman, and shared his skills, by helping others with home repairs and improvements. Being self-employed gave Danny ample time to enjoy his many hobbies, including shooting pool, camping, hunting and fishing.

Danny loved fishing the most – especially catfishing, and he was able to get out and fish most of this summer.

He is survived by his children – Alicia Christie, Holcombe, and Jake Christie, Ohio; his grandchildren – Teghan Stevens and Jazmin Stevens, and Harper Christie; his siblings – Scott (Janice) Christie, Cadott, David Christie, Cornell, Robert (Dawn) Christie, Cornell, Brian (Kim) Christie, Cadott, and Lisa Rochester, Florida; and many aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents – David and Elaine Christie.

A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 17, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Wisconsin Veteran Farm & Winery, in Cornell. There is a private burial ceremony, with military honors, at a later date.
