Family and friends are welcome to greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Colby Lions Shelter. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with arrangements.

The daughter of Roy and Velma (Hartman) McNamara, Cindy was born on May 22, 1952, in Racine. Cindy attended Cadott High School. She dedicated 32 years of service as a dietary cook at Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen, where she was known for her hard work, compassion and commitment to caring for others.

Cindy was united in marriage to Gary Thalacker on January 3,1970. Together they were blessed with three children and built a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.

Cindy enjoyed her daily Coke from McDonald’s. She found great joy in tending to her flowers. Cindy's love of travel led her on many adventures, but the beauty and serenity of the American West always held a special place in her heart.

She was the family cook, and requests were often made for her famous Spanish rice and fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Her holiday baking was equally beloved, and her monster cookies and peanut butter balls were highly sought after, becoming cherished family favorites year after year. Above all, Cindy cherished her grandchildren and was incredibly proud of her three children. She was their biggest cheerleader. Though she will be greatly missed, Cindy's love and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Cindy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gary; three children: Bradley (Cary Peavey) Thalacker, Brent (Kristie) Thalacker and Jody (Shane) Underwood; grandchildren: Zachary (Rebecka) Thalacker, Dylan (Joe Keal) Underwood, Abigail (Anthony Cincoski) Thalacker, Megan (Jakob) Bohman, Jacob (Taylor Anderson) Thalacker, Nolan Thalacker, Payton Thalacker, Brady Underwood and Emma Peavey. Cindy was filled with excitement at the anticipation of two great-grandchildren on the way. She is further survived by seven siblings: Terry McNamara, Vicki (Dan) Derks, Connie (Dave) Schraeder, Scott (Kim) McNamara, Tim (Sharyl) McNamara, Sandy (Dave) Peterson and Chris (Dave) Harel; one brother-in-law, Steve Nelson and her beloved companion, Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister, Robin and one sister, Roxanne Nelson.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for the compassionate care and support provided.
