Victor “Vic” Clifford Johnson Victor “Vic” Clifford Johnson
Victor Clifford Johnson, affectionately known as “Vic,” to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully, at his home, Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the age of 73, under the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice, in which we are so grateful for. In his final days, he was surrounded by the love, comfort and presence, of his family and close friends.

Born Aug. 30, 1952, in Holcombe, Vic lived his life in the same close-knit community that shaped him – marked by dedication, warmth and skillfulness.

Throughout his life, Vic was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill and ability to work with his hands. His career included logging, auto mechanics, small engine repair and concrete cutting. He was a proud Holcombe business owner of J& J Auto, and the Holcombe Husqvarna dealership. Vic’s hands were rarely still, and he took pride in doing quality work and helping others whenever he could.

Vic was a passionate sports fan, especially his Badgers, Brewers and Packers, reveling in the thrill of the game, but he also loved to follow his nephew’s and grandchildren’s car/cart racing, barrel racing and school sports teams.

Cutting wood and woodworking were not just hobbies for Vic, but a testament to his ability to create and fix anything he set his mind to. His handiwork was not only practical, but showcased his attention to detail. He also loved gardening with his wife, planting many flowers around the houses he lived.

Those who knew Vic would describe him as handy, hardworking, loving and thoughtful – the kind of man who would go out of his way to help a neighbor or a friend in need. His presence brought comfort to those around him and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is lovingly survived by wife – Jan; his children – Ryan (Janelle) Buesser, Kyle (Angela) Johnson, Kimberly (Jason) Phillips, Nicole (Patrick) Boughton and Adam (Kyra) Pickett; he was a proud grandfather to – Bergan and Grant Buesser, Emmit, Koy and Briella Johnson, Finley and Harper Phillips, and Kendra Pickett, each of whom brought him great joy and pride; his first wife – Kathy Voigtlander; his siblings – Howard (Loretta) Johnson; his brother-in-law – Bruce Balog; his sisters-in-law – Eva Johnson and Judy Balog; and many extended family members and friends, who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother – Sadie Taylor (Tom Mix); his father – Marvin Johnson; and his older brother – Gerald Johnson.

As we say goodbye to Vic, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and in the countless lives he touched, through his kindness and generosity.
