Larry G. Sime
Larry G. Sime passed away peacefully, Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, with family members by his side.
Larry was born in the Town of Colburn, Oct. 23, 1942, to George and Arla (Moore) Sime.
He grew up in the Town of Colburn, and went to Huron Grade School and graduated from Cornell High School.
Larry was married to Helen E. Walsvik, May 5, 1962.
He dedicated 53 years of his life, to River Country Coop, where his hard work and loyalty became a defining part of who he was.
In addition to his career, he served the City of Cornell, as a volunteer firefighter, for 16 years, always ready to step forward when his community needed him.
He found joy in the outdoors – cutting wood, fishing at Clam Lake, and traveling to Montana, for more than 30 years, to hunt antelope and mule deer, with close friends. Larry was also a skilled meat cutter, a devoted hobby farmer and an active member of the Lions club.
His faith was central to his life and he served his church in many roles over the years.
Larry’s generosity was felt everywhere he went; through every organization he touched and every person he helped, his kindness left a lasting mark on the community he loved.
He is survived by his wife – Helen Sime; son – Tim “Turk” (Kim) Sime; daughters – Tammy (Dan) Modl and Sharon (Gerry) Arnold Sime; grandchildren – Nathan (Anna) Sime, Alec Sime, Derek (Mel) Andrjeski, Courtney (Murray) Leraas, Lucas (Marya) Andrjeski, Daniel Modl, Jamey Arnold (Julian), Berkley Arnold, Matt (Jessica) Johnson and Stephanie Johnson; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers – Mike (Alice) Sime and Pat (Ann) Sime; sisters – Karen (Richard Kimball), Kathie (Dennis) Gingras and Debra Sime; sisters-in-law Ally Sime, Ann Sime and Gloria Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents – George and Arla Sime; in-laws – Emil and Ella Walsvik; brothers – Butch, Ronnie, Robert, Russ and Charles; sister – Dorothy Stees; and grandson – Caston Arnold.
Services are at noon, Friday, Feb. 13, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, with the Rev. Ron Gerl officiating. Lunch will follow the services, at the church. Visitation is from 10 a.m., until the services, at noon, at the church.
Inurnment is in the Cornell Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
