Richard “Dick” Earl Kane Jr.
Richard “Dick” Earl Kane, Jr., 77, passed away unexpectedly, at Prowlers Hospital, in Lamar, Colo., Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025.
Born June 15, 1948, in Chippewa Falls, Dick was the beloved husband of Roxanne Kane, for 22 years; a devoted father to six children and stepfather to five children; and a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was a proud Navy veteran and did two tours aboard the USS Magoffin, in Vietnam.
When he returned home from serving his country, he went to carpentry school. Dick started his own company, Kane Construction, in Holcombe, and owned and operated it for many years, until he lost his eyesight.
Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors, drinking his morning coffee, while playing cards, sharing stories and jokes, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife – Roxanne Kane; his children – Chris (Frank) Kane, Becky (Billie) Makovsky, Eva Kane, Scott (Sarah) Scharenbrock, Samantha (Cory) Crist and Richard (Karissa) Kane III; his stepchildren – Billie Jo (Phillip) Tennenbaum, Melissa (Richard) Bandell, Elsa Johnson, Duane (Amber) Johnson and Eugene Johnson; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings – James Kane Sr., Kathleen (Gary) Mueller, Colleen (Rick) Irwin and Marshall Kane.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Richard E. Kane Sr., and Colleen (Mulinix) Kane; his infant brother – Tommy Kane; his sister – Sandy (Kane) Irwin; and his sister-in-law – Chris Kane.
A gathering to celebrate Dick’s life is May 16, 2026, in Holcombe.
