John A. Seichter


John A. Seichter, 91, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at Caretta Senior Living in Eau Claire.
John was born Feb. 18, 1934, the son of John Erwin and Margaret (Plass) Seichter, in Boyd.
He grew up between Boyd and Cadott, on the family farm and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Boyd.
John served in the U.S. Army, from Dec. 5, 1956, to Nov. 24, 1958. After his time in the service, John returned to the farm, before beginning work at a John Deere factory in Iowa.
He married Mary Lee McCann, May 26, 1962, and together, they resided in Eau Claire, for a short time, and then made their home in Boyd, for 31 years, where they raised their three sons.
John later became a mason tender foreman, on notable structures, including Sacred Heart Hospital and North High School. He concluded his career, with over 28 years of service, as an institutional aide at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls.
The couple sold their home in Boyd, in 1996, and moved to Holcombe, where they enjoyed their retirement years together.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on the Flambeau River.
John enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, and visits from his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years – Mary Lee; sons – Greg (Mary), Eau Claire, Mike (Cindy), Eau Claire, and Jim (Angie), Augusta; grandchildren – Nick (Olivia) Seichter, Stephanie (Adam) Bragee, Garrett (Renu) Seichter, Ryan Seichter, Kyle (Megan) Seichter, Wyatt Seichter and Paige Seichter; six great-grandchildren; brotherin- law – Lawrence Komro; 21 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers – Bernard, Clarence, Jerome and Richard; seven sisters – Marcella, Lucille, Irene, Leona, Delores, Rosemary and Patricia.
A Mass of Christian burial is at noon, Friday, Aug. 22, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Holcombe, with Father Joseph Kumar Mayakuntla officiating. Visitation is from 10 a.m., until the time of service, at noon, Friday morning, at the church, followed by a luncheon.
Inurnment is Friday afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., with military honors by the Boyd American Legion, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Boyd.
