Mareno “Reno” Rykal

Mareno “Reno” Rykal passed away unexpectedly, at home, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the age of 61.
Reno was born Jan. 29, 1964, to Ronnie and Shirley Rykal. The youngest of four siblings, he was the kindest man and full of love for all.
Also know as “Bean,” Reno graduated from Cadott High School and moved to Cornell, with his closest friends.
He spent many dedicated years, working at Weathershield and out on the road, for Northern Clearing Inc., but his heart was always with his family. Eventually, he returned home and finished his career doing construction, with close friends – finding joy in being nearby and lending a hand wherever needed.
Reno’s first love was the Green Bay Packers; a die hard Packers fan, you could find him on game day at a local establishment or “End Zone,” the tavern he owned with Brian “Fruit” Franks and Chuck Ramseier, or in his brother, Cob’s, garage, with family and friends.
His second love was golf, not only a game for the boys, but you could find his daughters with him. It became a Father’s Day tradition with his girls, which often included more laughs than birdies. Not to mention, Reno and Chuck were currently in the lead for their Tuesday night golf league.
A talented woodworker, Reno took great pride in creating beautiful, functional pieces – end tables, bedroom sets, even dog beds – all crafted with care and skill. He lent a helping hand when building the hunting shack with his brother and friends. More than a hunting shack, it was a place filled with stories, memories and laughter.
A fine ice fisherman he was, you could find him out fishing on the thinnest or thickest ice he could find, with several friends and his nephew, Jordan Spaeth.
If you ever needed anything, Reno was the first person you could call, he showed up, without question, as fast as he could. He was dependable, strong and full of heart.
Reno was literally the sweetest man and never had anything negative to say. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his daughters – Erica (Kevin) Gingras, Erin (Jason) Ewings and Tabitha Bonander (Austin Flater); grandchildren – Bryanna (Coy) Bowe, Bryan Sweeney, Riley and Brooke Gingras, and Faye and Bo Flater; his great-granddaughter – Gentry Bowe; siblings – Kathy (Darrel) Spaeth, Travis (Samantha) Rykal, Robin “Cob” Rykal, Judy Kramer and Connie Kramer; and many nieces and nephews, who meant the world to him, and whom he leaned on often, for love and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepdad – Donald Kremer; stepsister – Kari Kremer; sisters-in-law – Eva and Tracy Rykal; niece – Elisa Rykal; nephew – Blaine Galetka; and several beloved brother and sistersin- law. Services are at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., until the time of service, Sunday, at the funeral home.
A celebration of life will be held at The Sand Trap Golf Course in Holcombe, immediately following the memorial service.
