Beverly “Bev” Thill

It is with much sadness and sorrow, that we announce the loss of our dear, loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Beverly “Bev” Thill, 90, Town of Ludington, Eau Claire County, who passed away, Monday, June 23, 2025.
Beverly Jean Wry was born May 3, 1935, at home, near Hannibal, the daughter of Arthur and Martha (Hudson) Wry.
She grew up and attended several grade schools in Clark, Taylor and Chippewa counties, graduating from Stanley-Boyd High School, in 1953.
Bev met her future husband, William “Bill” Thill, when she was “the popcorn girl” at the Stanley Theatre. He gave her a ride home, because it was a rainy night, while actually on a date with another girl.
Bill and Bev were married in Stillwater, Minn., Aug. 12, 1953.
Through the years, she had her special dogs, was on a bowling team and read romance novels in her free time. She loved to dance the polka and do the jitter-bug, often dancing with her good friend, Jo O‘Brien, to the tunes of their friends’ band, The Yankee Dutchmen.
Bev loved the Wry reunions and her annual thrift sale, talking and visiting, with old and new friends.
In addition to raising their five children, she was an avid gardener, canner, cook and baker. She probably canned close to a thousand jars of produce through the years. She would bake and bring over 22 of the best blue ribbon pies you ever ate, to Thanksgiving.
She always put so much work into her yards, keeping her lawn looking like a park. After moving to the farm in Lafayette, she helped raise their many beefers, chickens and pigs, one time, even cutting down a whole corn field, using butcher knives, with their daughter, Deb.
Bev worked for several years, at Shopko, in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. Some of her happiest years, though, were on their farm in Ludington Township, where they moved in 1977, and they raised hundreds of calves, with her naming and loving each one, and talking to them like they were her babies.
Her big heart showed, when she cared for her mother in her own home, for five years, after her mother suffered a stroke and when she took care of her mother-inlaw, again, in her home, during her illness.
She made dozens of quilt tops for the needy at their church and was over-the-top generous at Christmastime, with the many gifts she’d buy and she never missed a birthday.
After suffering a stroke in 2019, Bev enjoyed putting together hundreds of puzzles, which Bill would lovingly put into frames. She waited daily, for the mail to come and spent hours, going through her “many” pieces of mail.
She is survived by her husband – Bill; her children – Jean (Dale) Horgen, Debra (Donald) Baures, Frank Thill, Barbara (Bruce) Ramseier and Joanne/Josie (Keith) Schreiner; her grandchildren – Donnie Horgen, Michael (Karen) Horgen, Laura (Jay Sidor) Baures, Crystal (Blake) Rosenbrook, Amy (Ross) Czechowicz, Lisa (Kyle) Westaby, Megan Baures, B.J. (Carissa) Ramseier and Bill Ramseier, her sister – Artis Tisdale; her darling greatgrandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts; uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chippewa Manor, St. Croix Hospice, Katelyn, Brock and Christa, at Inclusa, and Kari, at Security Health.
Services will be held at noon, Thursday, July 3, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, with the Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until the time of services, at noon, Thursday, at the funeral home.
