Gary L. Rivers

Gary L. Rivers, 77, Holcombe, passed away peacefully, at home, with family by his side and in the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Gary was born Oct. 25, 1947, to George Rivers II and Irene Murphy.

He grew up in the Cornell area, and graduated from Cornell High School in 1966, and later attended and graduated from UW-Eau Claire.

Gary was united in marriage to Susan Knez, Aug. 10, 1968, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell.

Following marriage, Gary was employed for 30 plus years, for the Rusk County Department of Health and Human Services Gary enjoyed camping, golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons – Ryan (Heather) Rivers, Oak Grove, Minn., and Nathan (Jennifer) Rivers, Eau Claire; grandchildren – Darien, Devin, Isaac, Carly, Wyatt and Brett; great-grandchildren – Tatum and Davis; brothers – Dennis (Betty) Rivers, Cornell, and Mike Rivers, Cornell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents – George Rivers II and Irene Rivers; wife Susan Rivers; and a brother – George Rivers III and his wife, Karen.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell. Inurnment will be in the Cornell Cemetery, at a later date.
