Edsel “Ed” A. Evjen, 98, Cadott, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.

Edsel was born June 22, 1926, to Lewis and Alma (Gilbertson) Evjen, in the Town of Sigel, Chippewa County.

He was born and raised in the Town of Sigel, where he attended the Toutant One-Room Country School, in the Town of Sigel.

Ed served in the U.S. Army, for two years. He married Geraldine Peterson, July 12, 1947. Following marriage, Edsel worked at Hamm’s Cheese Factory, Fin and Feather Shoe Factory, and worked for Kell Container, for 26 years, until his retirement.

Ed enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and board games, with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time at the cabin, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons – Steven Evjen and Tim (Joleen) Evjen; grandchildren – Crystal (Jason) Thom, Gwen (Louis) Hoople, Craig (Amy) Evjen, Carissa (Tim) Hoyt and Rachel (Jon) Booth; great-grandchildren – Kersten Anderson, Kaeden Thom, Louis Ray Hoople III, Elizabeth Mickelson, Tryston Evjen, Kyah and Zak Hoyt, and Peyton and Hadley Booth; stepgrandchildren – Erin Leibelt and Jenna Starck; great-great-grandchildren – Kiylyn Thom, and Andruw and Oaklynn Mickelson, and Kinsley Thom; a brother – Clifford (Betty) Evjen, Silver Bay, Minn., and also by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Lewis and Alma Evjen; wife – Geraldine Evjen; sisters – Ruth Smith, Ione Crandall, Avis Felce, Darlene Woodford, Edna Wenzel, Clarice Smith and Shirley Kramer; brothers – Ellis Evjen and Clyde Evjen, granddaughter – Billi-Jo Mickelson; great-grandson – Andruw Paul Mickelson; stepgrandson – Shawn Starck; and also by several in-laws.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 6, at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, with the Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment will follow the services, at the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m., until the time of service, 11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
