David Boock
David Frederick Boock passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2026. David was born on July 22, 1942, to parents Marian and Norbert Boock in Minneapolis, Minn. He graduated from high school in Spencer in 1960; and from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire in 1965 with a degree in secondary education and a major in history. He earned a graduate school banking degree from the University of Wisconsin– Madison in 1984, and an administrative license for nursing home administration in Wisconsin in 1989.
David taught junior high and high school civics and social studies in Black River Falls. He worked as a vice president in the loans department at the Spencer State Bank in Spencer and at Associated Bank in Ephraim. He also served as administrator at Capeside Cove Nursing Home in Siren. David was initially on the advisory board of Scandia Village and became the administrator of Good Samaritan Society Scandia Village in Sister Bay in 1992, also serving as an interim administrator in several states. He served on the Good Samaritan Society National Board for six years. David retired in 2011, and spent many good years traveling with his wife and family.
In 1967, he married Cherylynne (Cheri) Zajac, and they have three surviving children: Christianna (Pat) Shortridge, Trophy Club, Texas; Linda (Jeffrey) Walker, Boise, Idaho; and Timothy (Heather) Boock, Victoria, Minn.
David is survived by his wife, Cheri; brother Gerald Boock of River Falls; and his seven grandchildren: Gage Boock, Anna Shortridge, Paris Boock, Patrick Shortridge, Jack Shortridge, Sam Walker, and Sabrina Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Marilyn Boock Schmidt. David was a member of the Spencer Lions Club, Ephraim Men’s Club, and Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay. He loved hiking trails in Door County and across the country; riding his bike on the backroads; cross-country skiing in Peninsula State Park; and following all kinds of sports. He was a forever Packer backer, and a fan of the Bucks, Brewers, Badgers, and Blugolds. Most of all, he loved his wife and family. He adored his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Bay in Ellison Bay on Friday, June 19, 2026, with a service at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials for David may be given to Lutheran World Relief (give.lwr.org).
