Veronica A. “Koni” Krueger (nee Weiler), age 79, West Allis, passed to eternal life on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, in her home of 53 years. Dear mother of Rhett Krueger and Ross (Susan) Krueger; loving grandmother of Caleb Krueger, Laura Hunt, Jacob (Summer) Krueger and Kevin Hunt; great-grandmother of Rylee, Ayden, Brodie, Easton and Brooklyn; sister of Glenn Weiler and Joan (Dave) Romens; sister-in-law of Sharon and Sally Weiler. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Marie Weiler, siblings: Gary, Jerome and Ken Weiler and sister-in-law Jane Weiler.

Koni will be remembered always for her knowledge, caring nature, work ethic, giving advice, wonderful sense of humor and listening ear. She cherished the company of her family, friends and neighbors. Those who knew her loved her dearly. She will be sorely missed by her family and her many treasured friends.

Koni was born February 13, 1945, at Saint Mary’s Hospital Wausau. She grew up on a farm in Colby and graduated from Colby High School in 1963. Koni was a part of 4-H, became a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studio, and attended college in Oshkosh and MATC. She was married to Gene Krueger for nine years. Koni worked for Pic Wire and Cable, Saint Joseph’s Home for the Aged, and La-Z-Boy (retired from). She tried different things on the side, like selling Amway and Pampered Chef, as well as selling homemade crafts with her sister, Joan.

Koni enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball, camping, crafting, crochet, reading, playing the piano, sewing, scrapbooking and collecting keepsakes. She had a special fondness for family history and working with her sister. Koni found great joy in giving her sons opportunities like church, Big Brothers, Parents Without Partners, and many outings with family and friends. She cherished the limited time she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Koni was a well-known fixture at her nieces' and nephews' events and activities.

Koni leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Weiler Family Homestead (115503 Windfall Hill Rd., Athens, WI 54411) on May 17, 2025, from 11-3 p.m. A light lunch will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please support a charity of your choice.
