Dennis Decker
Dennis Lee Decker, age 66, of Unity, passed away at UW Hospital in Madison.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15,2026, from 1-5 p.m at the American Legion in Unity. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #358 at 2 p.m. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Dennis was born on April 20,1960, the son of Virgil and Beatrice (Krug) Decker in Marshfield. He graduated from Colby High School. Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1978-81. On July 18,1981, Dennis was united in marriage to Ellen Schreiner at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal.
Dennis worked for a few small cheese factories and then earned his cheese making certificate. He then went to work at Land O’ Lakes in Spencer, retiring after 30 plus years. Dennis was a member of the Unity American Legion Post #358. He loved fishing and hunting, and also enjoyed woodworking.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Ellen; two children: Melissa Decker (Raymond Springer) of Greenwood and Aaron (Meagan) Decker of Kewaskum; five grandchildren: Savannah Springer (Rhys), Jade Springer (Nathan), Bowe Springer, Nova and Jayce. He is further survived by four siblings: Gail (late Charles) Flick, Sheryl (Jeffrey) Welhouse, Linda (Gary) Meyer and Scott (Julie) Decker; two sisters-inlaw and four brothers-in-law: Irene (Randy) Ellis, Paul (Judy) Schreiner, Mark (Sharon) Schreiner, Carol Schreiner (Mike), Bruce Schreiner and Brian (Vicky) Schreiner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Helen (Babish) Schreiner and two brothers-inlaw: Charles Flick and Mike Schreiner.
