Debra Klabon
Debra K. Klabon, age 71, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A funeral service was held at noon on Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. The Rev.
Ken Schmidt presided.
Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. Live stream was available for those unable to attend on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Debra was born on December 10, 1952, the daughter of LaMoine and Margaret (Anderson) Jacobson in Stanley. She graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1971. On June 16, 1983, Debra was united in marriage to Arthur “Skip” Klabon at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. She worked in the banking industry for many years.
Debra loved her community and was a very giving woman. She volunteered with the CUP Food Pantry, “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”, so no child sleeps on the floor in our town, making meals for shut-ins, the elderly and anyone in need. Debra also volunteered for 20 years at The Highground, either making meals for retreats, veterans organizations and fundraising. She was also active at St. Paul’s Lutheran. Debra was always very giving and would give the coat off of Skip’s back. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Debra is survived by her husband of 40 years, Skip; four sons: Matthew (Lucy) Klabon of Indianapolis, Ind., Chad (Dawn) Klabon of Owen, Josh (Kathy) Nichols of Virginia and Brett Nichols of Colorado, and three grandchildren: Abigail, Jackson and Emmalin Nichols. She is further survived by her three siblings: Judith Rau-Jacobson of Sussex, Richard (Dae) Jacobson of Stanley and Karen (Gerald) Mundt of Pittsville; a brother-inlaw, Duane (Sharon) Klabon of Stevens Point and a sister-in-law, Laurel (Andrew) Halstead of Indiana; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Katherine Gutowski; a niece, Kristin Spaeth and a brother-in-law, Mark Klabon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran parking lot fund or “Sleep in Heavenly Peace.”
