Jerome Krause

Jerome N. Krause, 1947-2024, age 76, of the town of Brighton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at his home under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday,

March 9, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield with Rev. Andrew Belt officiating. He will be laid to rest in

Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Brighton. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer and again at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The honor of pallbearers belongs to his grandsons: Jacob Oldenberg, Calvin Lenz, Brandon Lenz, Austin Mientke, Daniel Richmond and Lucas Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are: Erica Gardner, Kaileigh Mientke, Emma Brooks, Erin Brooks, Ashley Quartaro, Dominic Post and Dalton Post.

Jerome was born on Dec. 17, 1947, in the town of Brighton to Norman and Wilma (Bruss) Krause. He attended Brighton Elementary School and graduated from Spencer High School. He also attended the Farm Short Course in Madison. On Aug. 15, 1970, he was united in marriage to Patsy Jean Luchterhand at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. He owned and operated a dairy farm at the home farm where he lived all his life, having taken over when his dad passed away. After retiring from farming, Jerome Bus Company, from 2009-2021.

drove school bus and the clinic shuttle for Marshfield Bus, later known as Kobussen He was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, where he and Pat were members until they transferred to Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Jerome was a member of the Jaycees for years when he and Pat first married and was on a bowling

team. He was a past member of the Town of Brighton Zoning Committee. Jerome joined the Spencer Fire Department in December of 1984, and retired from the department in 2012 as an honorary member of 28 years of dedicated service to the community.

Hobbies included watching Packer games, playing sheepshead with friends and attending events that the grandchildren were involved in. He liked to play chess with his grandsons and in his retirement years, he enjoyed tending to his garden. In retirement, Jerome enjoyed driving through the country, following “different” roads with his wife, Pat. They called it “going trucking.” Also in later years, they enjoyed evening drives looking for deer around the countryside. Spending time with family and friends was always a top priority for them. Jerome’s life was certainly wrapped up in his grandchildren.

Those who will cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patsy; his children, Amy (Brent) Brooks of Spencer, Gayle (John) Post of Spencer, Rebecca (Greg) Kulas of Medford and Ron Krause of Spencer; his grandchildren, Jacob (Becky) Oldenberg of mond of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Lucas Brooks of Spencer, Emma (special friend, Maddy Wallace) Brooks of Spencer, Erin (special friend, Tanner Vancour) Brooks of Spencer, Austin (special friend, Maddie McPhee) Mientke of Medford and Kaileigh Mientke of Medford; his step-grandchildren, Dominic (special friend, Ava Spooner) Post, Derick Post, Dalton Post, Ashley Quartaro and Angi (Stephen) Berend; his great-grandchildren, Liam Kline and Quincy Gardner of Wausau and Laikyn and Peyton Lenz of Spencer; step great-grandchildren, Aftyn Quartaro and Kolton Berend; his brother, Mark (Pam) Krause of Spencer; and his sister, Sandra (Rev. Ken) Schauer of Republic, Wash.; along with many other relatives and friends.

Jerome was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Krause; his father, Norman Krause; his mother and stepfather Wilma and Walter Neumann; his in-laws, Orville and Ellen Luchterhand and his son-in-law, Marv Richmond.

His family extends their appreciation for the comfort and care Jerome received from the dedicated staff of St. Croix Hospice.

If desired, memorials are being accepted by Jerome’s family for a charity to be determined.
