Arlyn G. Luchterhand, 66, Loyal, passed away at Marshfi eld Medical Center in Marshfield, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021. His cremains will be placed with his parents’ in the Loyal Cemetery later this summer.

Arlyn Garth Luchterhand was born on Dec. 15, 1954, in Marshfield, to Garth H. and Lorraine I. (nee Schmidt) Luchterhand. He was raised on the family farm north of Loyal, and worked at his father’s business, Luchterhand Farm Implement. Arlyn received his education in Loyal public schools, graduating from Loyal High School in 1973. After high school, Arlyn enlisted into the U.S. Navy on Sept. 17, 1973, and served in the Vietnam War on the USS Waddell until his honorable discharge on July 2, 1979. After returning to Wisconsin, he attended Wausau Technical School, studying computer programming. He moved to Woodstock, Ill., and was employed at Minolta Business Systems for more than 20 years as a systems administrator. Arlyn returned to Loyal and resided on the family farm. He worked at Fleet Farm in Marshfield for several years before retiring. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed going to local steam and gas engine shows, going to model train shows, and home-brewing wine and beer. He loved cats and was a big fan of Garfield memorabilia, he loved making and flying kites, gadgets, building computers and RC cars, and he particularly loved the 4th of July and found much joy putting on great fireworks shows for the family each year.

Arlyn is survived by one niece: Jessica Luchterhand; his great-niece: Destiny Luchterhand; his sister-in-law: Sheri Luchterhand; his aunt: Phyliss Linebaugh; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Carl, on May 7, 2007.
