Jean E. Schilling, age 85, of Colby, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at the Abbotsford Health Care Center.

Jean was born on August 27, 1935, in Abbotsford to Oscar and Christine (Landwehr) Olson. After her education she went to Madison and worked at a hospital as a nurse’s aid and in 1955, she moved back and worked at Marathon Electric until her marriage to Herbert Schilling on November 30, 1957, at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Dorchester. Together the couple farmed in the town of Hull until retiring in 1996.

Jean enjoyed collecting antiques, feeding the family,travelingwithherbrotherandsister-in-law, Galen and Thelma; polka dancing and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. Jean was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby.

Jean is survived by her loving husband; Herbert of Colby; children: Scott (Robin) Schilling of Colby, Debra (Bill) Stuttgen of Spencer and Dean (Cary) Schilling of Colby; grandchildren: Brandon (Mandy) Schilling of Dorchester, Dana (Jon) Betz of Lake Du Bay, Mike (Chelsea) Stuttgen of Marshfield, Tyler (Kristie) Stuttgen of Marshfield, Hannah (Ryan) Loos of Spencer and Cassandra (Brett) Venzke of Stetsonville; and eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Galen (Thelma) Olson of Wausau, Judy (Russell) Stollfuss of Oskosh, Marjo Hughes of Ripon and Ron (Karen) Olson of Wausau; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arlyn Olson, in infancy.

A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran in Colby on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends can watch the service live on the funeral home’s Facebook page or after service anytime on Facebook or the website. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
