Milton J. “Mitt” Fitzl Sr., 83, Loyal, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023. Services will be held at a later date.

Milton John Fitl was born on May 16, 1940, in Donald, Wis., the son of John L. and Margaret N. (Johnson) Fitzl. As a young boy, his family lived a short time in Illinois, but settled on a farm southwest of Greenwood in 1946.  After completing his education, Mitt was united in marriage to Fern A. Korntved on March 21, 1964, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood.  He drove truck all of his life, first hauling milk for Glen Zimmer in Greenwood and then for O-W Trindal in Loyal.  Mitt then bought his own truck and hauled grain and cattle until his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.

Mitt had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Fern, of Loyal; his children: Milt Jr. (Jill) of New Ulm, Minn., Pete of Loyal, Rhonda (Ryan) Reddy of Spencer and Tanya (Ryan) Pagenkopf of Loyal; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dennis (Joyce) Fitzl of Willard and Dick Fitzl of Loyal one sister: Beverly (Ed) Lloyd of Pray; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mitt was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Marjorie O'Dell and Donna Hammond; and two brothers: Jimmy and and Billy, both in infancy.

The family would like to thank the Loyal Ambulance and the Marshfield Medical Center E.R. and Palliative Care Uni for their compassion and care given to Mitt and his family.
