Sharon A. Dering 1942-2026

Sharon A. Dering, 84, of Ogema, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. She was born May 13, 1942 in Chicago, Ill. to Claude and Norma (Halberg) Barr. She grew up in Ogema and graduated from Prentice High School in 1960. On Aug. 10, 1963, Sharon married Brian Dering. They resided in Milwaukee for several years then moved back to the Ogema area where they had been since that time. Sharon worked as a teacher’s aide for the Ogema/ Prentice School District for many years until her retirement.

Sharon took pride in keeping a clean home, tending her yard and garden, and cooking for her family. Above all, she cherished spending time with them.

She will be missed by her children, Pamela Dering, of Wausau, Craig (Cindy) Dering, of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Josh Dering, of Ogema, Shaunda (Chris) Esslinger, of Wausau; great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Christopher, Arianna, Michael, Kyle and Juliahna; brothers, Alan (Eileen) Barr, Dale (Pat) Barr, all of Medford; in-laws, Carol Dering, of Medford, Pat McDowall, of Dousman, Jim Sevenz, of Oconomowoc; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brian in 2002; in-laws, Marge Sevenz, Cedric “Rick” Dering, Bob McDowall; and her beloved granddaughter, Morgan Dering.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026 at the First Lutheran Church in Ogema with Rev. Travis Rodgers officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the First Lutheran Church of Ogema.
