Rosie Ryskoski 1945-2026

Rosie Ryskoski, 80, of Medford, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born on Dec. 22, 1945, to Harold and Hazel (Hagen) Gilbertson. She lived in the town of Browning and attended Medford Area High School. Rosie married Marlin Birkholz. They farmed and together had three children. They later divorced. On Oct. 16, 1968, Rosie married Randall Ryskoski in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, Randall and Rosie had three children. Rosie worked for many years at Tombstone Pizza in Medford, along with some time working at Marathon Cheese, as a nurse’s aide at the hospital in Medford, at Walgreen’s, and at a hotel in Medford.

Rosie enjoyed doing her crafts, having and attending numerous garage sales, going to the casino, dancing, gardening, reading and putting together puzzles, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Linda (Dale) Vesnefsky, of Wausau, William “Billy” (Carol) Birkholz, of Rib Falls, Gerald “Jerry” (Nicole) Birkholz, Mark (Joy) Ryskoski, of Medford, Laura (Chris) Makaryk, of Plainfield, and Lyn (Shane) Kilpin, of River Falls; her brother, John Gilbertson (Sharon), of Williamsburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Daniel (Beth), John, Otto, Jesse, Shauna, Selena (Jonathan), Joshua, Megan, Brittany (Quade), Justin (Reba), Alexa (Neko), Krista (Niko), Miranda (Cody), Brandon (Kimmy), and Carson; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; her first husband, Marlin; her husband, Randall; her siblings, James Gilbertson and Carol Potaczek; and four grandchildren, Jordan, Stacy Ann, and Lacy Lee Bennici, and Anna Vesnefsky.

At Rosie’s request, private services will be held for family.

Memorials can be made on Rosie’s behalf to Hope Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
