Rocket relay teams dominate Colby invitational


Greenwood and Granton teams also compete
With three out of their four relay teams taking first place, the Spencer boys took third place at the Colby Track Invitational held April 25. Due to wet conditions, no field events were held, forcing the teams from Spencer, Greenwood and Granton to rely on their runners’ skills to earn points.
Taking first-place finishes for the Rocket boys on relays were the 4x200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Levi Anderson, Elliot Bauer, Landon Behselich and Johnathon Jonas ran the 4x200m, finishing in 1:37.89. Bauer and Behselich ran with Breckin Miller and Nicolas Johre in the 4x100m, completing it in 47.77; and Logan Ehlert, Anderson, Behselich and Jonas ran the 4x400m in 3:57.13. The boys also had Ehlert, Teddy Meyer, Devyn Schmidt and Isik Howlett compete in the 4x800m relay, which took fourth with a time of 10:44.29.
In girls relays, Caitlin Clark, Alina Jackson, Theresa Knecht and Rachel Nieman took fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 59.04. The same team ran the 4x200m relay, taking sixth place with a time of 2:06.29.
Individual results for the Spencer boys and girls placing in the top eight are as follows: Kyle Nieman, 2nd, 110m hurdles, 16.86, 2nd, 300m hurdles, 47.06; Elliott Bauer, 2nd, 100m dash, 11.68; Autumn Davis, 2nd, 400m dash, 1:08.49, 7th, 200m dash, 30.36; Johnathon Jonas, 3rd, 100m dash, 11.70; Levi Anderson, 6th, 100m dash, 12.08; and Isik Howlett, 6th, 800m run, 2:33.43.
Granton results The Granton track and field team also competed at Colby, having several athletes place in the top eight. For the girls, three relay teams competed and placed. The 4x400m relay team of Faustina Thomas, Alexis Pongratz, Charlotte Hanna and Jordan Berg took fourth with a time of 5:35.3.
Taking sixth place with a time of 59.71 was the 4x100m relay team of Maya McConkey, Anna Kayhart, Berg and Thomas; and the 4x200m relay team of Hanna, Lizzy Reinart, Abby Schoessow and Kennedy Young took eighth with a time of 2:18.10.
Individual results for the Granton boys and girls are as follows: Alex Gardner, 3rd, 400m dash, 56.65, 4th, 200m dash, 25.22; Anna Kayhart, 5th, 100m hurdles, 20.09, 6th, 300m hurdles, 58.61; Faustina Thomas, 6th, 400m dash, 1:13.32; Caleb Schoessow, 8th, 400m dash, 1:02.34.
Greenwood results The Greenwood track and field team had several individuals and one relay team place in the top eight. In relays, Angel Anderson, Hunter Ellis, Christian Thomas and Rogan Travis completed the 4x200m in 1:57.45 to take fourth.
Individually, Renaya Horvath took first place in the 100m mixed wheelchair event, completing the race in 31.45. Christian Thomas took third in the 300m hurdles (48.23) and fourth in the 110m hurdles (18.58). Sarah Reiff was fifth in the 400m dash with her run of 1:12.66 and Katlund Etlicher finished eighth in the 1600m run with a time of 7:22.79.
In the men’s events, Spencer took third with 72 points. Newman Catholic was first (103), Bloomer took second (86), Colby and Mosinee tied for fourth (50), Abbotsford was sixth (31), Greenwood was seventh with 16 points and Granton took eighth with 13 points.
In the women’s events, Granton placed sixth with 20 points, Spencer was seventh with 18 points and Greenwood took eighth with five points. Also scoring were Colby (108), Abbotsford (75), Mosinee (72), Newman Catholic (72) and Bloomer (59).
