Casey Grunseth and Dalton Wisocky earned scores of 289 out of a possible 300, Colton Lang finished fourth in his bullseye division and the Gilman Pirates placed 16th as a team in 3-D competition at the 2022 National Archery in the Schools Program Open Championships.
The event was held June 23-25 in Louisville, Ky. Eight members of the Pirate Archery Club made the trip and competed in both the bullseye and 3-D shoots.

He received the fourth-place plaque in the boys elementary division (grades 4-5) and was fourth among 168 boys in his grade. The only archers above him in the division were Kevan Pollei of Arizona’s Wickenburg Christian Academy (288), Logan Rhinevault of Pennsylvania’s Lathrop Street Elementary School (287) and Weston Clancy of Sparta, Mo. Middle School (286). Lang hit 16 10-point shots.

Wisocky was 70th in the division with his 274. Lang was 14th out of 171 elementary boys by shooting a 272. Olivia Buske was 57th out of 152 high school girls with her 271, while Tatum Weir was 105th at 256.
Reece Weir was 118th out of 233 middle school girls with her score of 254, Romig was 186th with a 228 and Kennedy Buske was 189th at 227.
Using the top three girls and boys scores, Gilman’s team score was 1,616 to place 16th out of 24 high school teams. Liberty Christian Academy of Virginia won the team title with 1,727 points, eight more than Wynnbrook Christian School of Georgia and Sarcoxie High School from Missouri. Gilman was the only Wisconsin team in the competition.
