Priscilla Stenzel


Priscilla E. Stenzel, 85, Athens, died November 14, 2023, at CopperLeaf Assisted Living, Marathon. Priscilla was born January 8, 1938, in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Joseph and Erma (Soucek) Myszka. She married Luke Stenzel Jr. on July 7, 1956, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2002. Priscilla and Luke were owners of Stenzel’s Bar in Athens. Priscilla also worked as a bartender and waitress at various locations. Among her favorite things to do were watching NASCAR racing, traveling, going to casinos, baking chocolate chip cookies, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Bergs; a son, Randall (Jean) Stenzel; granddaughter, Traci (Kevin) Schreiner; grandson, Kevin (Katie) Stenzel; and great-grandchildren, Makayla and Preston Schreiner. Other survivors include siblings: Benedict (Carmen) Myszka, Donald (Bonnie) Myszka, Joleen (Marvin) Dassow, Sharon (Ronald) Dassow, Debby (Kirk) Cwikla and Monelle Johnson (Charles Way); and sisters-in-law: Mary Myszka, Mindy Myszka and Sharon Stencil. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son-in law, Michael Bergs; siblings: Patricia (Dennis) Mroczenski, Norbert (Jane) Myszka, DuWayne Myszka, Dale Myszka and Janice Barr; infant sister, Luann Myszka; infant brother, Jerome Myszka; and brothers-in-law: Clarence Stenzel, Lawrence Stenzel and Edward Stencil Sr. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Alan Wierzba presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Visitation was on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Linda Bruesewitz

Linda Bruesewitz


Linda Lou Bruesewitz, age 79, joined her family and God on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at the Waterford at Colby under hospice care with her family at her side. Linda was born on September 18, 1944, the daughter of Harry and Margaret Zrutskie in Colby. She married Dennis Bruesewitz on January 9, 1963, and together they raised four children: Deb (Tom) Paul, Mike (Julie) Bruesewitz, Tim Bruesewitz and Lisa (Tom) Wussow. She spent most of her life farming and later in life spent 31 years at Figis becoming a lead. She enjoyed and loved so many of her co-workers, becoming best friends with many. She had a very special place in her heart for Diane & Vicki. Linda is survived by her children, her sons-in-laws and daughter-in–law; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Dawn (Bud) Littleton and Terry (Jude) Zrutskie. Joining her will be her husband, Dennis, and her son, Tim, as well as her parents, Harry and Margaret Zrutskie and a brother, Dusty; her in–laws, Delmar & Lila Bruesewitz, and numerous other loved ones. Thank you to Kristi, Mary and staff of hospice for assisting in mom’s comfort and care. A very special thank you to the staff of the Waterford for the daily care & support, couldn’t have done it without you. Catherine V. Sazama, age 81, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Sauter/ Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. St. Joseph’s Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Catherine was born on May 7, 1942, in Marshfield, the daughter of Clarence A. and Viola (Wiest) Olson. She was the fifth child in a family of six girls. Cathy grew up both in town and on the family’s farm. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a 1960 graduate of Columbus High School. She was united in marriage to Daniel J. Sazama on October 17, 1970, at St. John’s Catholic Church. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Cathy worked as a CNA in health care for 33 years, retiring from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2007 after 20 years on the night shift. Cathy was a long-time, active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She happily volunteered in many capacities, serving as a lector, sacristan, leading rosaries, and baking for various functions. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 53 years, Dan, and their children: Julie (Rod) Aquino of San Diego, Calif., Craig (Jen) Sazama of Racine and Michael (Steva) Sazama of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Reese Sazama, Morgan Sazama and Emery Aquino. She is further survived by sisters: Annette (Russell) Champion of Chippewa Falls, Marion (Gary) Machtan of Marshfield and Paula (Gary) Zellmer of Marshfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Lois Mercer and Marcella “Sally” Phillips. Nancy Schwalenberg

went to be with the Lord Jesus on November 20, 2023, at the age of 86. She passed into eternal glory in the presence of her sons, Mark and Ryan, under the excellent care of the staff of Aspirus Hospital, Medford. Nancy was never given a middle name. Nancy was born in Waupun (outside the prison) on September 26, 1937, to Clarence and Francis Van Hierden. She was the first of three children. Nancy married her husband, Ronald, also of Waupun (outside the prison) on August 6, 1955. They were soon blessed with two sons: Mark and Ryan. Nancy was a member for many years of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, and loved to serve the Lord in many areas of church life including: Sunday School teacher, vacation Bible school director, and Evangelism director. Nancy also joyfully served in various roles in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and even went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico. She also loved to sing in the adult choir and enjoyed travelling internationally to places like China and Europe. During her adult years, Nancy worked as a seamstress for the Dave Miller Costume Shop in Milwaukee and as a medical receptionist. In 2016, Nancy moved to Athens and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending church and Bible study, playing sheepshead, and the special friendship of many of the members of Trinity. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Ron. Nancy is survived by her sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Neevel; her sons: Mark (Kaye) and Ryan (Julie); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation for Nancy will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens, on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Her celebration of life service will take place at Trinity at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow. Nancy’s ashes will be placed next to her husband, Ronald, at a future date. Online condolences may be expressed at www. petersonkraemer.com.
