Lorraine Springer
Lorraine Springer, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at noon on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar, with Rev. Alan Wierzba presiding. Following the Mass, Lorraine was laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the parish cemetery. Family and friends were invited to gather at the church on Wednesday for a time of visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. With love and respect, her grandchildren served as pallbearers: Terri, Jennifer, Ryan and Casandra.
Lorraine was born on January 18,1931, in Marathon, to the late Edward and Anna (Dalski) Michlig. She grew up in the Town of Cassel and attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Marathon and carried the values of faith, dedication and hard work with her throughout her life. On June 17, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward “Eddie” Springer at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Marathon. Together they built a life rooted in family and commitment until Eddie’s passing on October 15,1993.
A woman of strong work ethic and quiet determination, Lorraine devoted over three decades of her life to Marathon Cheese, where she worked in production for 32 years. Her reliability and pride in her work made her a respected and valued employee until her retirement in 1993. In addition, she worked at Color Vision and spent 25 years working at the Rib River Ballroom, where she enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with others in her community.
A devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar, Lorraine’s faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.
She was a spunky woman full of life who found joy in the simple and meaningful moments. She loved watching NASCAR and football, cheering on her favorite team “The Packers” with enthusiasm. A true caretaker at heart, she believed no one should ever go hungry—her kitchen was always open, and she cooked enough to feed an army, making sure everyone who walked through her door felt welcome and cared for. She was a hard worker throughout her life and never hesitated to lend a hand. Whether it was helping her children and grandchildren with farm work, babysitting, cleaning, or simply being there when someone needed her, she gave her time and energy generously. She shared many special memories with her husband, including ice fishing trips—though she never quite forgave him for the time her last beer fell down the hole—along with playing cards, visiting with friends, and enjoying time together. She also loved snowmobiling and embraced life’s adventures with a spirited heart.
Above all, she was someone her family could always count on—steady, loving and strong. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
She is survived by daughter, Linda (Dave) Wagener and son, Randy (Chris Brown) Springer; grandchildren: Terri Wagener, Jennifer Drabek, Heather Schulz, Jason Springer, Cassandra Starr, Rachel Fritz and Ryan Springer, along with 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Marcy Ellenbecker of Wausau.
Lorraine is now reunited in eternal life with her parents, Edward and Anna Michlig; her beloved husband, Eddie Springer; her sons: Kenny and Rick Springer; grandson, Mike Springer; granddaughter, Carrie Koller; great-granddaughter, Kylah; her brother, Marvin; and her sisters: Violet, Adaline, Evelyn and Evangeline “Vanny.”
