Allen Eugene Scheithauer


1944-2021 Allen Eugene Scheithauer, 77, of Rib Lake died on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, while surrounded by his loving family at Aspirus Hospital in Medford, just 18 days after his wife Linda passed. pitch softball and fast pitch softball (all men’s leagues). He played on the Interwald baseball team and loved the Brewers. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed NASCAR, boxing, and even boxed while in the military. Allen also enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. For many years they had three large gardens and shared their vegetables with everyone. His late wife, Linda, once noted that Allen would have rated up there with the master gardeners. Linda added that Allen was also a self-taught electrician. He worked on small electrical projects and did most of the plumbing in their home. Allen also built his own wood splitter that he often lent to family and friends. Both Allen and Linda enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds by their home. Allen loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. One of his sisters stated that Allen was the “family clown”. He had a lot of fun with his friends and family and valued those memories. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his five children, Michele (David) Dahl of Medford, Lisa (Shannon Halopka) Scheithauer of Medford, Jeff Scheithauer of Rib Lake, Kim (Mike) Schlais of Cadott, and Kari (Eric) Napier of Fort Wayne, Ind.; brothers, Herbert (Ruth) Scheithauer and Dennis (Cathy) Scheithauer, all of Rib Lake; sisters, Alice Smola of Rib Lake, Barb Steinman of Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law, Delores and Laverne Scheithauer of Medford; grandchildren, Brett (Trudy Grussinger) Dohrwardt, Wyatt Dohrwardt, Dakota (Carlie Rau) Dahl, Corissa (Dakota Zimmermann) Scheithauer, Casey Scheithauer, Rhonnie Jo Scheithauer, Mason Svee, Layla Schlais, Annika Wright, Jaxon Napier; great-grandchildren, Everly Flatland and Adahlei Zimmermann; and many nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Bryan; sisters, Bernadine Brahmer, Durana Dentz, Vera Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Marcy, Gerri, and Elizabeth Scheithauer; brothers, Joseph, Marvin, Robert, and Kenneth Scheithauer; brothersin- law, Jim Smola, Lavern Hoffman, and Chester A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, N5868 County Rd. C, town of Greenwood, Rib Lake. Military honors by the United States Marine Corps and the Medford Area Military Honors Team followed. Burial was in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He was born on Sept. 19, 1944, in Medford to Marcella (Jarchow) and Joseph Scheithauer. He attended the Rib Lake Area Schools. His first job was working for Earl Wager doing masonry work. He then went to work in Milwaukee, building bridges. On Sept. 11, 1965, he married Linda Bleck in Rib Lake. Linda gave birth to their first child, Bryan Lee Scheithauer, who was born prematurely and sadly passed away just hours after birth. Allen was then drafted into the military, and the couple moved back to Rib Lake. Allen entered the Marine Corps Jan. 3, 1966, and was sent to Vietnam in June of 1966 as a machine gunner in Vietnam, fighting on the frontlines. Allen received a shrapnel wound on April 7, 1967 while on patrol against the Viet Cong in Vietnam. He was treated at DaNang field hospital and transferred to the hospital at Great Lakes, Ill. He spent three months in the hospital but could come home on the weekends. Allen was then stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as a Military Police Officer. Corporal Scheithauer’s service ended in January of 1968 and he was awarded a purple heart for his injury. Shortly thereafter, Allen began working at Great Northern Cabinetry driving truck. He then worked for Blount Inc. in Prentice, working there for 37+ years as a welder, welding end loaders and other logging equipment. Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, slow Brahmer. Betty A. Clarke


1933-2021 Betty A. Clarke, of Perkinstown, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services for Betty were held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford with Pastor David Clements officiating. Visitation took place at Hemer Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Betty was born on Nov. 14, 1933 to Albert and Iola (Westrich) Meyer in Perkinstown. She was a graduate of Medford High School. She married Lowell Clarke on Aug. 22, 1953; he survives. While Lowell was stationed in El Paso, Texas, Betty became a CNA and worked at hospitals and nursing homes throughout her life. She was also a cook at Our House for many years and an Avon Lady. Most of all she will always be remembered as a wonderful homemaker. Betty was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, an active member of the Perkinstown Community Church, the Red Hat Society, and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, sewing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was famous for her homemade pancakes and deviled eggs. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her children, Susan (Dwight Stevens) Dassow of Medford, Cynthia (Kevin) Krejci of Wausau, and Aimee (Lawrence) Williams of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Nikki (Paul), Wade (Patsy Gumz), Kelly, Keisha (Andy), Kolden, Kimara, Sebastien, and Rua; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Trinity, Grace, Aiden, Chloe, Jordyn, Addison, Brooklyn, Harper, Christian, and Beau; siblings, Harvey, Jerry (Nancy), and Patty (Clement) Johnson. Betty is further survived by many other family and friends. 1929-2021 Ervin E. Schmidt, 92, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at Country Gardens. A memorial service will held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen II. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. followed by military honors performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Ervin was born on June 25, 1929 to John and Frieda (Fisher) Schmidt in Medford. He attended Wayside School in the town of Hammel. He worked on the family farm and as a logger. He served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955. While in the service he took basic courses in mechanics and mountaineering. After his service he attended a short course on farming and farmed the family farm for 40 years. He was also carpenter for many years. He married Delores Hoeve on Sept. 8, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church; she survives. In his spare time, Ervin enjoyed making wood crafts, fishing, dancing, and gardening. In addition to his wife, Ervin is survived by his children, Wayne (Kathy) Schmidt, Debra Schmidt, Gail (David) Faber, Dawn (Patrick) Janko, Darla (Rodney) Mueller, and Melody (Daniel) Kuenne; grandchildren, John Giffiths, Jennifer Rosenburg, Jeremy and Corey Faber, April Byrd, Jamie Syryczak, Christopher Syryczak, Travis and Lucas Mueller, Amanda Meyer, Samantha and Tabitha Kuenne; 16 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat- grandchildren; siblings, Roy Schmidt, Louise Piller, Gloria Spreen; sister-in-law Christine Schmidt. Ervin is further survived by other family and friends. “Marie” Mary Louise Webster


1938-2021 “Marie” Mary Louise Webster, 83, of Gilman died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at home. She was surrounded by her loving family praying, reciting the Rosary, singing, and letting her know how loved and appreciated she was and always shall be. A funeral mass and the celebration of her life will take place in the Spring of 2022, to be announced at a later date. Marie was born Aug. 25, 1938, to the late John Valentine and “Mary” Maria Agnes Grabowski. She grew up in the area and graduated from Gilman High School. She married Clarence “LeRoy” Webster, Jr. (deceased Mar., 19, 1996) Feb. 7, 1959, and they began their family of eight children. Marie worked as a secretary, farm wife, EMT, Gilman Bar Café owner, and was the owner/operator of The Kountry Kettle restaurant for over 24 years. Her faith informed her whole life and she was a formidable prayer warrior for all. She belonged to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church being active in the Rosary Society and Ladies Guild. She loved sharing her faith with the youth through teaching catechism for many years. She was also a member of the Lioness Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, was a voracious reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, and player of all card games. She is survived by her children, Sandra (Ramazan “Rambo”) Bijani of Martinez, Ga.; Jeff (Lisa Teske) Webster of Wausau; Mona of Lake Hallie; Kelly (Lynn) of Gilman; Lisa (Kent Yee) of Bellevue, Wash.; George (Jeanette Fairbanks) of Jackson, Wyo.; Wade of Cedarburg; and Luann (Reena) Marston of Seattle, Wash. She has 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are, Theresa Rita of Elgin, Ill.; Josephine Rogalski of Crystal Falls, Mich.; Agnes Langeberg of Wisconsin Rapids; Victoria Gray of Eau Claire; John Grabowski (Laurette) of Auburn, Wash.; and Anthony (Jan Brylow) Grabowski of Rhinelander.
