Marion Meyer


1927-2023 Marion Meyer, age 95, formerly of Holcombe and Dorchester, passed away peacefully at Stoney River in Marshfield on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1927, in Ogema. She worked as a nursing assistant at Medford Hospital where she met the love of her life, Arthur, and they were married 60 years. Together they started Meyer Lumber Co. of Dorchester, along with two of Arthur’s brothers. Marion initially worked in the office and even did the books at home on a card table with a borrowed typewriter. In 1977 they retired and moved to Holcombe. Marion very much enjoyed living on the lake in Holcombe. She loved visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, water skiing, pontooning, fishing, gardening, and trips to the casino. Marion swam every day in the lake during the summers and could be seen scraping the snow off the roof into her 90s. Marion was blessed with many friends and neighbors who continued to watch over her after Art’s passing. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents, Marie (Dahl) and Alvin Nelson; brother, Conrad Nelson; and sister, Irene Knippel; daughter-in-law Karen Meyer; and her beloved cat Benny. She is survived by her three children, Bruce Meyer, Duane (Jane) Meyer, and Marcia (Joey) Garcia; five grandchildren, Holly (Drew) Martin, Amy (Erich Kliewer) Meyer, Daniel (Cassie) Meyer, Joey Garcia Jr, & Kody Meyer; seven great-grandchildren, Braxton, Delaina and Cadence Meyer, Avery and Bodhi Martin, and Marlo and Norah Kliewer. Mary J. Peissig


1953-2023 Mary J. Peissig, 69, of Curtiss, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held on June 9, 2023 at the Munson Bridge Winery, one of Mary’s favorite places. She was born March 13, 1953, in Marshfield to George and Monica (Egle) Schreiner and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Medford High School in 1971. On July 3, 1971, Mary married Dell Peissig. They resided in the township of Mayville where they farmed until 1991. They resided on the farm until their deaths. She loved to crochet, knit, and sew. She donated a lot of her crafting to local charities. She also loved to cook and bake, especially with her grandchildren, and also made her own wine. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She traveled during her retirement, including trips to Trinidad, Antigua, and Hawaii. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Dell preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2015. She is survived by three children, Jessie (Nigel Gomez) Peissig of Fullerton, Calif., Erik (Lovey) Peissig of St. Francis, Minn., Ryan (Laura) Peissig of Oshkosh; her brother, Dennis; and her sisters, Rita, Lolly, Dorothy, Georgene, Callie, Mutzie, and Linda. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Rio, Iva, Emmalynne, River, and Isla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother George; and her sisters, Angie and Millie. Luella M. Daubert

Luella M. Daubert


Luella Marie Daubert, 85, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford with Pastor Ralph Shorey officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Luella Daubert was born on March 15, 1937 in Nekoosa, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Peterson) Zuleger. She was raised in Medford. Luella attended Birchwood School and Pleasant Heights School both in the Medford Area School District. She graduated from Medford Area Senior High in 1955. She married George Daubert on Sept. 21, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford. She worked for Farmers Home Administration (US government agency) from 1968 until the time of her retirement in 1992. During her time working for FHA, George and Luella also owned the Chaparral Supper Club for a few years. After retirement from the FHA, Luella and George then owned the Kountry Korner Bar from 1992 until the time they sold it in 2000. Finally retiring! 1937-2023 Over the years, Luella enjoyed many things. She especially liked gardening, gambling at the casino and working on the Peterson Reunion planning and book. Luella, with her husband George took pride in their old cars and going to car shows and on old car rides. Luella enjoyed going to baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball games that her great-grandkids played. She loved watching them and also became “Grandma” to many others. She traveled near and far to be at as many games as she could. She will be missed in the stands, but now has the best seat in the house with George for each and every game. Luella is survived by a daughter, Tami (Jeff) Kallenbach; a grandson, Judd (Brenda) Hraby; and 3 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Rylee, and Laney Hraby all of Medford. Also survived by a sister, Dixie Noland of Medford, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Zuleger, Sandy Kummer, and Bev Zuleger all of Medford; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Luella also was a godmother to five godchildren (Kevin Neumueller, Kris Anderson, Laura Peterson, Mark Willner, and Jason Zuleger). Luella was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, four brothers and sisters (Dene, Dick, Jack and Tilly) and two nephews (Kelly and David). 1950-2023 Camby Otto Berry, 72, of 218624 Timber River Trail, Wausau, formerly of the town of Holway, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023. A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Holway Town Hall. Camby was born May 23, 1950 in Medford to Otto and Louise (Nuernberger) Berry. He graduated from Medford High School in 1968. Following high school, Camby worked at the local cheese factory and hauled milk until starting a dairy farm of his own. On Aug. 13, 1983, he married Ginger (Schopfer) Marcott . They farmed in the town of Holway until he was no longer able, and he retired. Camby enjoyed participating in tractor pulls and earned several trophies over the years. He was highly skilled at fixing everything from farm machinery to household gadgets and was always looking for ways to improve them. Both Camby and Ginger enjoyed country music, of which they attended many local fairs and festivals to listen to famous artists. They also enjoyed some of their free time going fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Ginger of Wausau; four children, Jini (Dean) Ruplinger of Mosinee, Patti Bloch of Wausau, Steven Marcott of Marshfield, Kelly Marcott of Weston; siblings, Ralph (Darlene) Berry of Curtiss, Jean (Ralph) Pitzke of Stetsonville, Lori Berry of Weston; grandchildren, Nikki Marcott of Miami, Fla., Matthew (Melissa) Dassow of Eau Claire, Krista (Chris) Reeves of Ohio, Onalee Marcott of Calif., Hailey Bloch of Waconia, Minn., Shyley Marcott of St. Louis Park, Minn., Madelyn Marcott of Weston; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Raelynn, Emerson and Avery; and nieces and nephews. William A. “Bill” Heier


1938-2023 William A. “Bill” Heier, 84, of Lublin, formerly of Medford, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at the Clark County Rehab and Living Center in Owen, while under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford with Fr. Jayanna Kanna officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Bill was born June 30, 1938 in Medford to Walter and Isabelle (White) Heier. He graduated from Medford High School in 1956. On Aug. 13, 1960, he married Mildred Anderson at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. They resided in Medford and Bill worked at Weathershield, then Hurd Window Co., Foremost Foods and retired from Tombstone Pizza Corp. Bill enjoyed playing horseshoes, pool and especially loved bowling, which he did most of his life. One year, he took first place in Duke’s Bowling Tournament in Abbotsford, winning the top prize! He also won the doubles in the same tournament with Richard “Red” Heier. He was so proud of that, and Mildred was happy too, as she got all new kitchen appliances with the winnings! He will be dearly missed by his wife, Mildred of Lublin; four children, Tammy Heier (Mike Floyd), Chelle (Brian) Dyrcz, Dawn (Brian) Frome, all of Medford, William “Bill” (Rose) Heier of Wausau; grandchildren, Nick (Provi) Searer, Sean (Abby) Lewandowski, Evan Lewandowski, Ben Heier, Amber Heier, Jay Dyrcz (Rachel Osness), Amanda (Jesse) Clark; great-grandchildren, Lilah Heier, Jaden and Tianna Searer, Reggie Lewandowski, and one on the way; sister-in-law, Esther Heier of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. 1955-2023 Marie A. Brugge, age 67, of Owen, passed away at her home on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family under the tender care of Promedica Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Marie was born on June 10, 1955, the daughter of Warren and Jewel (Goodwin) Olsen in Denver, Colo. She attended school in Commerce City, Colo., Madison, and Neillsville. On June 20, 1987, Marie was united in marriage to Russell Brugge in Medford. She worked various jobs and most recently as a housekeeper. Marie enjoyed westerns, mysteries, rodeos, reading, traveling, fishing, gardening and hummingbirds. Most importantly, she loved and cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marie is survived by her husband, Russell; her four children, Anthony Olsen, Michelle (Ed) Bryant and Heidi (Larry) Sowatzki all of Medford and Laura Brugge of Pewaukee; seven grandchildren, Brendan Olsen, Taylor Bryant, Joe, Jacob, Josh Lutovsky, Lawrence Jr. Sowatzki and Ashley Sowatzki; one great-grandson, Levi. She is further survived by her mother and step-father, Jewel (Lee) Yusten of Westboro; two brothers and two sisters, Lyle (Solita) Qualls, Lora (Mike) Adams, Geoff Qualls and Rochelle (Wally) Cherek; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
