Faye L. Curran


1926-2023 Faye L. Curran, 96, of Medford passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service for Faye will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Rib Lake, with Pastor John Hazen officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Rib Lake from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Faye was born on July 21, 1926 to Howard and Elsie (Meyer) Ainsworth in Monico. She attended Monico school grades 1-9, and graduated from Three Lakes High School in 1944. Faye then went off to Langlade Teachers’ College in Antigo, to begin her training to fulfill her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. She would spend the next 25 years taking night and weekend courses in Stevens Point to get her teaching degree, as she taught and raised her family. She married Harry Curran on Aug. 2, 1947 in Monico. She taught in Woodruff, Three Lakes and Eagle River elementary schools before starting her career in Rib Lake in 1950 where she would teach for the next 35 years until her retirement in 1988. Faye will be best remembered for her knack with children, and what a positive influence she was in so many of her students’ lives. Her patience and love knew no bounds. Her faith made her such a pillar of strength for her family. She would spend the last 13 years of her life totally immersed in the lives of her great-grandchildren. We were all beyond blessed to have (Faye, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Auntie, Mrs. Curran) in our lives! Faye loved her flower gardens and would plant them wherever she could find a spot. At her home in Rib Lake she had 16 flower beds! In 1984 she received an award for having the best flower beds, and that plaque still sits in her largest bed to this day. Faye also enjoyed snowmobiling with Harry and friends, camping, crafts, knitting, her work with her church, and we can’t say this enough- her grand/great-grandchildren! Faye is survived by her children, Tom (Gail) Curran of Merrill and Kathy (Wayne) Laher of Medford; grandchildren, Kris (Jason) Lang, Linda (Gary) Radloff, John Laher, Mike (Laura) Curran, and Sarah Curran (Brian Bradshaw); great-grandchildren, Alex and Timmy Lang, Ella and Anna Curran, Sophia Curran, and step-great-grandchild, Rylan Bradshaw. Faye is further survived by other family and friends. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Harry in 2004; and siblings, Lawrence, Marion, Dorothy, Howard, Mike, and Tom. 1957-2023 Bruce W. Liazuk, 66, of Medford, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Aspirus Care and Rehab. A memorial service for Bruce will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey with Pastor Ralph Shorey III officiating. Burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Bruce was born on March 4, 1957 to Stanley and Rose (Glebke) Liazuk in Gilman. He attended Gilman school and graduated from Gilman High School in 1975. He married Nancy Martin on May 28, 1977 and they later moved to Medford. Bruce worked for Weather Shield, Tombstone, Handel Motors, Christmas tree farms, and Krug Bus service throughout his career. Bruce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and of course, the Packers and Brewers. He was also a WW2 buff. Bruce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Liazuk; daughter, Amy (Jason) Kohn and their children, Samantha, Rebecca “Becky”, and Benjamin; son, Justin and his daughters, Eva and Rylee; son, Michael (Nikki) Liazuk and their daughter, Emilia; sisters, Ellen Liazuk of Crestwood, Ill., Diana (Jon) Hillstead of Wisconsin Rapids, Carolyn (Alan) Siok of Gilman, and Jayne Kaczmarcik of Marshfield; sister-in-law Rita Liazuk. He is further survived by 18 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob, Gary “Butch”, and Ronald in infancy and nephew, Brian. 1952-2023 Barbara “Barb” Olson, 70, of the town of Holway, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen. A funeral service celebrating Barb’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Holway with the Rev. Lynne Pahl officiating. Interment will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Barb was born Sept. 25, 1952 in Medford to William and Mattie (Miller) Schrock. She grew up in the town of Holway, where her family farmed. While working at a neighboring farm, she met her future husband, Dale Olson. The two were united in marriage on Oct. 7, 1974 in Waukegan, Ill. They resided in the town of Holway and farmed on Dale’s family farmstead while raising their three children. Barb also worked outside the home, working at area restaurants until purchasing her own. She owned and operated Cabin Café for many years. She then worked in local assisted living facilities until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, bird watching, flower gardening and listening to old time country music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Allen (Araceli) Olson of Onalaska, Chad (Jennifer) Olson of Stetsonville, Sarah (Joe) Serrano of Dorchester; daughter-in-law, Joanna Olson of Onalaska; nine siblings; eight grandchildren, Jaylin, Caleb, Ryleigh and Kinlee Olson, Joseph and Mya Serrano, Karsten and August Olson; and many nieces and nephews. Norman D. Perrin


Norman D. Perrin, 82 years, of Medford, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Medford United Methodist Church, 287 E Allman St, Medford, WI 54451, with Pastor John Hazen officiating. Visitation will take place at the Medford United Methodist Church on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m., followed by military honors, performed by the Medford Honors Team. Norman was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was proud of the time he spent in the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves, and enjoyed being on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in 2018. He loved his family, playing cards, golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, and travel. Some of his children’s fondest memories are fishing 1940-2023 with him at the family cottage, and many competitive rounds of golf at Tee Hi, where he aced hole #4 in 1992. In retirement he was able to travel to many countries and within the United States, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Norm was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Margaret (Marge) Perrin; sister, Ruby Tompkins and her husband Don; brother, Alan Perrin; parents George and Irene Perrin. He is survived by his second wife of 16 years, Ruth Wiest; Norm and Marge’s children, Mark (Kathy), Scott (Gayle), Kent (Deborah), Amy (Chris Konop), and Todd (Amanda); grandchildren, Ryan, Craig, Jon (Kelsey), Alison (Michael DeGrave), Candace (significant other, Mike), Andrew, Jack, Marlee, and Brynlee; great grandchildren, Maggie and Cal; sister, Dee (Ted) Tompkins; and sister-in-law, Caryl Perrin. Florence J. Cedzo


Florence J. Cedzo, age 89, of Rib Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Rib Lake Health Services, under the care of her family, Rib Lake Health Services, and Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Florence was born in Rhinelander, on Sept. 26, 1933, to the late Anthony and Doris (Boham) Burnett. She was married to Eugene Cedzo on July 9, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander; he passed away on Oct. 2, 2019. Florence and Eugene traveled extensively during his service with the United States Air Force. They moved to Rib Lake in 1963 then lived in Athens and Medford for some time before eventually moving back to Rib Lake. Florence had worked as a nurse’s aide for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander and also worked for Magnuson Mink Ranch in Ogema. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, canning, shopping, going out to dinner, and watching her soap operas and game shows. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Cathy (Dennis) 1933-2023 Scheithauer, and Nancy (Ray) Duerr; her grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Peterson, and Morgan and Hailey Duerr; her great-grandchildren, Easton, Vaeta Mae, and Jaisyn Peterson, Braxten Grajkowski, Brady, Tatum, Donovan, Carter, and Josie Scheithauer, and Ciara Cleveland; her brother, Tom Burnett; her sister, Rita Pringle; her brothers-in-law, John (Pat) Heiser, Jim (Delores) Heiser, and Jim Tasch; and her sisters-in-law, Alice Priser, Betty Quednow, Patty Andrea, Pearl (Sam) Tackett, and Edie (Bill) Sunderlin. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Doris; her husband, Eugene; her siblings, Alvin Burnett, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Burnett, and Lyla Lukarich; her son-in-law, Tom Peterson; her granddaughter, April Peterson; her mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Frank and Alice Cedzo and Louis and Alice Heiser; her brothers-in-law, Godfrey Lukarich, Kenny Johnson, Kelvin Priser, Art Andrea, Frank Quednow, and Robert Heiser; and her sistersin-law, Theresa Burnett and Catherine Tasch. Marilyn Jean Mitzlaff

1936-2023 Marilyn Jean Mitzlaff, age 87 of Jump River, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at her home with her loving husband Robert of 62 years and her loving daughter Christie by her side under Hospice care. Gravesite services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River, with Pastor Joey Olsen officiating. Marilyn was born March 25, 1936, in Milwaukee, to Chester and Esther (Leichtfuss) Turner. She married Robert Sept. 16, 1961, in Milwaukee. They moved to Jump River in 1968 to take over the family farm. An addition to the family was born to them in 1963, and they named her Christie Diane Mitzlaff. Marilyn worked for Northwestern National Insurance as IBM operator in Milwaukee and when they moved to Jump River she worked on the farm and at R & W Novelty in Glen Flora for many years from which she retired. She was also the owner of Small Town Crafts. She made beautiful wreaths and roping for Christmas, quilting and many craft items which she sold at craft shows around the country. Marilyn enjoyed quilt making, crafts, woodworking and gardening. She was a very talented woman. Marilyn was a lifetime member of the Colby VFW #2227. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert of Jump River; and her daughter, Christie of Gold Canyon, Ariz. She was the proud grandmother of Anthony (Megan) Brooks, Jennifer Brooks and Kevin Richard who died in infancy. She loved her great-grandchildren Rohan and Layton Brooks. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin; brothers, Chester and Richard; sisters Ellen, Alice and Shirley; her mother Esther; and father Chester.
