Evelyn A. Kallenbach


1932-2021 Evelyn A. Kallenbach, 89, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Abbotsford Health Care Center. A memorial service for Evelyn will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor James Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, June 18 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Evelyn was born on Feb. 29, 1932 to William and Matilda (Neundorf) Zuleger in the Town of Browning. She attended Mathy School and graduated from Medford High School in 1949. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper prior to marriage. She married Gerald A. Kallenbach on Sept. 11, 1954. Together they owned and operated a farm in the Town of Browning for 45 years. She also worked as a tax preparer and was a program assistant for Taylor County ASCS for 15 years, retiring in 1996. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of its ladies organization and sang in the church choir for 30 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing, any kind of puzzle, and spending time with her family. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, William Kallenbach of Algoma, Carol (Don) Krumm of Schofield, Martin (Janice) Kallenbach, David (Debbie) Kallenbach, and Terry (Barbara) Kallenbach, all of Medford, and Wendy Thompson of Oak Creek; grandchildren, Jay (Becky) Kallenbach, Craig (Kelly) Kallenbach, Travis (Jessica) Kallenbach, and Tanya (Samuel) Kleutsch. Evelyn is further survived by her brother, Chester Zuleger of Horicon, brotherin- law, Robert (Jarda) Kallenbach of Medford, and sister-in-law, Betty Zuleger. She is further survived by nieces; nephews; and other friends and family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; sonin- law, Bob Thompson; sister, Ruth Widmer; brother, Robert Zuleger and; brother-in-law, Don Widmer. Rosalie Ann Orth

Rosalie Ann Orth


1940-2021 Rosalie Ann Orth, 81, of Dorchester, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Colonial Center in Colby. Private services will be held with burial at a later date at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee. She was born Mar. 27, 1940 in The Dalles, Oregon to Lulu Ethel (Payne) and Raymond Kilbourn. The family then moved to Lombard, Illinois where Rosie grew up and attended school. Following high school, Rosie attended UWStout, where she earned both a B.S. degree and a Master’s degree in Education. This is where she met her future husband Harold. She taught Home Ec. in Hawkins and Neillsville then taught at Union Grove Middle School for a few years as a substitute teacher. Rosie and Harold were united in marriage on June 13, 1964. In 1974, they purchased a farm in Raymond Center and farmed there until Harold’s retirement in 1999. Following his retirement, they moved to Dorchester to help their son Peter on his dairy farm. Rosie loved to read; sing in the choir, as she did for many years alongside her children; and take care of plants…always treating them as the living beings they are. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Harold of Dorchester; daughter, Deborah Orth of Athens; son, Peter (Carrie) Orth of Cedar Grove; a sister, Phyllis Lathrop of Colorado Springs, CO; and grandchildren, Kara and Steven Orth, Valerie and Erik Drzewiecki. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Stephen. Rosie’s family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Center for their kindness and compassion shown to Rosie during her stay. Peter “Pete” A. Themar

Peter “Pete” A. Themar


1930-2021 Peter “Pete” A. Themar, 91, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at home, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. area. He was a long time supervisor at Weather Shield until his retirement in 1992. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, from an early age, fishing with his children and grandchildren, woodworking, and gardening. He also built his own log cabin. Pete is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Therese (Jack) Freudenthal, Carol Jahsman, Marilyn (Larry) Matyka, all of Medford; grandchildren, Jim (Jenny) Freudenthal, Laura (Mitch) Peters, Jerry Freudenthal, Joe (Katie) Freudenthal, Jeremiah (Marie) Jahsman, Jennifer (Taka) Kuvaoga, and Matthew and Sarah Matyka; step-grandson, Jason Jahsman; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pete is further survived by his brother, James Themar of Muskego; sister, Evelyn Tuma of Milwaukee; and other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Themar; and sister, Jeanette Quast; and two great-grandchildren. 1941-2021 and 1948-2021 Surviving are the couple’s three children, Gwendolyn (Brad) Fischer, Edward (Jodi) Piller, Melanie (Craig) Lorbiecki; eight grandchildren, Emily Gilmore, Katlin Hahn (Riley Hayes), Airmen First Class U.S. Air Force Cody Vasseur, Specialist Army National Guard Monica Piller (Mechanic Army National Guard Hunter Brady), Anna Lorbiecki, Sophie Lorbiecki, Charlie Lorbiecki, Lily Lorbiecki; sisters and brothers, (David): Connie (Jack) Behrendt, Donald Piller, Lana (Jack) Raiche, Jeff (Sharon) Piller and Sandy (Dale) Jochimsen. David was born Sept. 9, 1941 in Stetsonville and died May 28, 2021 in Stetsonville on the exact location of his birth. Leona was born June 24, 1948 in Chicago, Ill. and died May 29, 2021 in Stetsonville, 26 hours after her husband’s death. They were both surrounded by loving family during their final hours. David was born and raised in the Stetsonville area and was a graduate of Medford High School. Leona was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. and attended a variety of Catholic schools. After serving in the U.S. Army for four years David moved to Chicago where he and Leona met and were united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1969. When they were expecting their second child, they moved to Stetsonville and took over the family farm from David’s father. This is where they resided and raised their family of three children together until their passing. They farmed until around 1991, after farming David was an over the road truck driver for Roehl Transport until he retired around 2008. After retirement, David worked a variety of part-time positions and also took up woodworking and intarsia (a unique art using different shapes/types of wood). He was extremely talented and created many pieces that people will enjoy for years to come. David also enjoyed hunting and they both were avid Brewer fans and enjoyed watching many, many games together. David and Leona shared over 51 years of marriage together. Their love was so strong, that after only 26 hours after Leona held his hand when David passed, her heart ached too much to continue on. They both loved their family deeply. In addition to his and her parents, David and Leona were preceded in death by David’s sisters, Margret Piller, Kathy (Piller) Hauser, Jane (Piller) Laffan; and Leona’s brother, Joseph Arturi. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the entire team at Hope Hospice in Medford. Words cannot express how kind and supportive they were to both David and Leona. Special thanks to Father Mike Hayden for coming out to administer last rights to both. David greatly enjoyed annual family reunions and one was on schedule already for June 19th. The family has decided to extend this reunion to ALL family, friends and neighbors with an inclusion of a Celebration of Life Open House to honor David and Leona. 1933-2021 Dorothy H. Slachetka, 87, of the town of Medford, died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 7 at the Centennial Hall, 412 E. Centennial Ave. in Stetsonville. Burial will follow at Evergreen II Cemetery, Medford. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, June 6 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, June 7 at Centennial Hall in Stetsonville. She was born June 27, 1933 in Medford to Minnie (Oertwig) and John Duesing. She grew up in Medford and attended Pleasant Heights School. On Nov. 18, 1950, Dorothy married Stanley Slachetka. They resided in the town of Medford, on her family’s homestead. There they farmed and Dorothy ran a bed & breakfast called “Our Little Country Place.” She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was an avid reader. She was devoted to her faith in God and always held her bible close. She is survived by her husband, Stanley of Medford; children, David (Linda) Slachetka of Medford, Lucey (Gary) Leonhardt of Medford, Violet (Tim) Matthias of Kerrville, Texas, Valerie (Brian) Becker of Harlingen, Texas, Tim (Kristina) Slachetka of Ogema, Stanley Jr. (Jane) Slachetka of Medford; a sister, Mabel Alderink of Plymouth, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; and 25 greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Erna Krisher, Elaine Krisher and Delores Aldis; and a grandson, Jerry Leonhardt.
