Group campsites on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will remain closed for the rest of the recreation season. The majority of the forest’s campgrounds and recreation sites are open to visitors. Campgrounds with group sites that will remain closed:

• Boulder Lake Campground Group Sites

• ChippewaCampgroundGroupSites(Hardwoods Loop)

• Morgan Lake Campground Group Sites

• Picnic Point Campground Group Sites

• Stockfarm Bridge Campground Group Sites Reservations at group sites will be cancelled and refunded through the remainder of the recreation season.

“Most of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is open for public use. The group sites at campgrounds will remain closed this season as we continue to balance our work in ways that allow us to adhere to our core value of safety while also following public health recommendations on social distancing,” said Paul Strong, forest supervisor, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

The forest supervisor’s order limiting the size of groups of 10 people or less per group across the entire forest remains in place until further notice. In alignment with this, recreation event special use permits, large gatherings and the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center

by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) along with local health and safety guidance. Responsible recreation will help expand access to facilities, services and other opportunities. Certain services may still be unavailable, so visitors are asked to plan accordingly and to remain flexible.
