Lake Holcombe Town Board - Front entry of hall will finally be finished

After calling for bids, the Lake Holcombe Town Board selected the contractors they felt were the best, Aug. 20, to replace the front door to the town hall. There were two bids submitted for the work: TAG Builders, for $10,369; and DW Construction, for $7,096, with the latter chosen.
“I think we’ve been pretty satisfied with Duane’s (Wallace) work in the past,” said supervisor David Staudacher.
They also accepted the lone bid from American Fence, for a custom railing at the front entryway.
It was also agreed on a division of land for the Loring property. The town received an email, with virtually no explanation of what was expected from the board. So, town chairman Brian Guthman took the matter to the county, who explained that the board needs to sign off on the division first, before it is complete.
Apparently, the division is for multiple lots. “That’s right by the school,” said Guthman. The board also approved a resolution for the Cornell Area Fire Department, who has applied for funding, not to exceed $400,000, to build the satellite station in Holcombe. The resolution guarantees that the board, in security, will repay the funding, if the department is unable to.
Members also approved a memorandum of understanding with the school district, to use the town hall in the case of an emergency, as a rendezvous.
Also approved, was to purchase propane, after getting multiple quotes from Thaler, $1.57/gallon; Quality Fuel, for $1.39, if they prepay, or $1.42, if they do not; and Rusk County Farm Supply, for $1.45. It was agreed to go with prepay, through Quality.
Guthman also mentioned that the town may get sign damage restitution, from a vehicle accident that occurred on 263rd Avenue to 284th Street. It was the driver’s fault, so they will need to reimburse the town for the cost of reinstalling the sign.
Also hoped for, is a storm damage reimbursement, from a storm this spring. Guthman submitted employee time sheets, what trucks and equipment were used to clear trees, GPS locations, etc., and is waiting on the next step.
“Hopefully, the next step is a check,” he said.
