John C. Lemke, 44, Merrill, and Phillip J. Fredrikson Jr., 49, Medford, were involved in an accident on September 25 at 7:43 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 13 and CTH O in the town of Medford. According to the amended accident report, the Lemke vehicle was southbound on Hwy 13 and the Fredrikson vehicle was eastbound on CTH O. The Fredrikson vehicle had a green light and was proceeding through the intersection with Hwy 13 to turn northbound onto Hwy 13. The driver of the Lemke vehicle failed to stop for the red traffic light and proceeded into the intersection, striking the Fredrikson vehicle. Fredrikson sustained possible injuries but was not transported for medical treatment. The Lemke vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front, left front corner and left side front. The Fredrikson vehicle sustained damage to the left side front. Disregarding a red traffic light by Lemke was listed in the report as a factor in the accident. He was issued a citation for a red traffic light violation.

Michael J. Jeske, 51, Gilman, and Travis J. Akey, 35, Withee, were involved in an accident on October 2 at 5:06 a.m. on CTH O in the town of Holway. According to the accident report, both vehicles were eastbound on CTH O when the Akey vehicle struck the rear of the Jeske vehicle. Jeske lost control of the vehicle and it entered the north ditch. The Akey vehicle sustained damage to the front, right front corner, right side front, left front corner and left side front. There was damage to the entire Jeske vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Operating a motor vehicle in an inattentive, careless or erratic manner and looking away from the task by Akey were listed in the report as factors in the accident. He was issued citations for inattentive driving and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

John M. Akey, 72, Medford, and Tammy R. Paulson, 47, Medford, were involved in an accident on September 22 at 2:29 p.m. in a parking lot at Walmart in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Akey vehicle was backing out of a parking space when it struck the Paulson vehicle which was stopped in the traffic aisle. The Akey vehicle then left the scene without stopping. Akey was later identified and located, but stated he did not remember hitting anything. The Paulson vehicle sustained minor damage to the front, right front corner and right side front. There was no damage to the Akey vehicle. Unsafe backing; operating a motor vehicle in an inattentive, careless or erratic manner; and looked but did not see by Akey were listed in the report as factors in the accident. He was issued a citation for hit-and-run.

The following deer-related accidents were reported: Billy J. Leggett Jr., 45, Rib Lake, on September 30 at 6:37 a.m. on CTH M in the town of Greenwood.

Jocelyn R. Holtz, 27, Wausau, on October 2 at 7:35 p.m. on Hwy 73 in the town of Cleveland.

Gary A. Schneck, 63, Wausau, on October 4 at 10:20 a.m. on CTH C in the town of Greenwood.

Donald J. Hunt, 33, Thorp, on October 4 at 6:20 p.m. on CTH M in the town of Hammel.

Elijah D. Blume, 19, Medford, on October 4 at 9:35 p.m. on CTH M in the town of Medford.


Sarah I. Krause, 35, Unity, and a vehicle owned by John W. Boeck, Stetsonville, were involved in an accident on October 2 at 5:20 p.m. in a parking lot on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Krause vehicle was backing out of a parking space when it struck the legally-parked and unoccupied Boeck vehicle, causing minor damage to the right rear corner and right side rear. There was no damage to the Krause vehicle. Looked but did not see by Krause was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.
