EMS crossing fingers that bill gets signed into law
It was a big day, Feb. 3, for the Cornell American Legion Post 353, as their chapter of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL), was awarded the official charter. Started in 1932, the SAL places an emphasis on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for the nation’s children, caring for veterans and their families, and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship. To be eligible for membership, are all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans, who died in service, during the period of April 6, 1917, through Nov. 11, 1918, or any time from Dec. 7, 1941, to date, who served honorably. Presenting the charter to Post 353 members, was Rick Talford, SAL district commander (center). “Congratulations and I hope to see growth,” said Talford. “Our numbers are really climbing quickly.” Photo by Ginna Young
