Elizabeth Eibergen

Elizabeth “Betty” “Boots” Louise Eibergen, 91, Granton, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at Riverside Assisted Living in Neillsville.

Betty lived all her life in Granton. She was born Oct. 30, 1933, to Michael and Anna (Bladl) Zahradka. She graduated from Granton High School and attended UW- Stevens Point. Betty worked as a bank teller until she met her husband, Richard “Dick” Eibergen. They were married Aug. 4, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Neillsville. Together they raised their children on the family farm. She enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling with her husband.

Betty served 30 years as secretary for Samson Memorial Library in Granton and played an integral role in the merger with Granton School Library. She was a charter member of the New York Homemakers Club and was active in the club until it was disbanded. Betty was also a lifetime member of the Granton FFA Alumni. In 2003, Betty and Dick were Honored Grandparents of the Year for Granton Fall Festival, nominated by their then 13 grandchildren. Previously, they had been honored as Granton Fall Festival’s Citizens of the Year.

Betty loved playing the piano, gardening, and cooking/baking. Visitors were treated to a seven-course meal made in less than an hour no matter what time of day they stopped in. We will keep on the traditions of brandy slush, grasshoppers, and mint bars, and also continue to bring out food even after we’re all full at family get-togethers.
