You never know what your help can mean to someone
There are a lot of people going through cancer treatments, who are fighting for their lives. They shouldn’t also have to worry about how they’re going to afford to put food on the table or keep a roof over their heads during that time.
That’s why the sixth annual cancer fundraiser at The Bird Nest in Holcombe, is a chance to help those struggling. The event, Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., has ticket and basket raffles, a gun board, food truck, pie and cheesecake auction, and more.
“We’re gonna kind of bring back that old school pie auction,” said Bird Nest owner and cancer survivor Courtney Anders.
There will also be samples from Infinity Beverages Winery, while Cookie’s Holcombe Inn is donating 10 percent of the day’s sales to the fundraiser. In addition, there will be vendors, offering fun products for purchase.
If anyone would like to donate a gift basket/items for raffle, they can drop them off or arrange for pick-up, by contacting Anders, at 715-517-1163. Vendors who want to be part of the day, can also call Anders.
This year, Women of Courage, out of Ladysmith, will distribute 100 percent of the proceeds to cancer patients in need, around the area, something Anders considers a fair way to make sure everyone gets some help.
“We like to do this to help the people in the community and give back,” she said.
