Lake Holcombe Town Board - Improvements are in progress along the Wayside

Replacement of the old wooden play set by the beach area of the Wayside Park, has begun, thanks to the efforts of two organizations. The Lake Holcombe Improvement Association and Lake Holcombe Lions Club went together, and put up money for a new, state-of-the-art plastic play set, to make it safer and more attractive at the park.

There will be two play sets, as well as an all-accessible swing by the handicapped dock, which can hold a wheelchair.

“It’s going to be really nice to have,” said Town of Lake Holcombe chairman Brian Guthman, at a meeting June 18.

In order to install the sets, the town will have to remove some trees and they’re also going to develop a walking trail, running from the handicapped fishing pier, along the property they own, to the point by the Pine Lake

Either way, the board was excited to see that improvement at the Wayside.

“I know we looked at that quite a few years ago,” said supervisor David Staudacher.

The town may also get $6,000-$7,000, through Emergency Management, for storm damage reimbursement, from severe weather that happened in May. With all the trees and limbs that went down with the storm, the town has to figure out how much time they spent on the cleanup and what equipment was used, causing a lot of paperwork for Guthman.

“Hopefully, we get some money out of it,” he said. One thing that was taken care of, were boating ordinance changes, dealing with slow-no-wake buoys, by the bridges, by Phat Bob’s. Clerk Tracey Larson looked back in the town minutes and discovered that members approved proposed changes in January, not the actual ordinance.

“I thought that we’d taken care of all that, but I guess we didn’t,” said Guthman.
