William Stafford

William Lyle Stafford, 77, Kenosha, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 3, 1947, to the late Lyle Stafford and Lillian (Grum) Smith in Withee.

William entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 27, 1967, and was honorably discharged on June 13, 1972.

In 1969, he married Carol Claeys in Kenosha. William was proud to have his pilot’s license, and one of his greatest joys was flying his planes and ultralights.

William is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 56 years, his son, Kevin (Laura Grasser) Stafford, and his daughter, Sarah Danielson, all of Kenosha; his four grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his aunt, Phyllis Goeke of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Joy Smith. Funeral services for William were held on Wednesday, June 25, at 12 p.m., at the Bruch Funeral Home with full military honors following. Visitation was held on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Private family interment took place on Thursday, June 26, at 9 a.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
